Damage

I did not even
listen for her
to answer.  The
damage was done.
I sat down at
the kitchen table.
She gave me a look
of such pride it
was almost alarmingly
lustful.  She stood
up from the chair near
the table.  But I could
not find the courage (not
even for a single moment's
second) to gaze up and
watch her go.
