The Beast (Spoken Word)
'The Beast'
It's a wonder to me how few see this
Especially the ones who claim to follow jesus
The put down, disrespect of a type of people
Like slavery or the holocaust but not quite as evil
Homosexuals are despised in this day and age
What I say for change is unlikely to sway the rage
It confuses me because when I approach the topic
People question my intention and disregard logic
The first defense is that I share the preference
I don't, but the mindset wont care for evidence
The next barrier will be that it's unnatural
But showing it in nature get's ignored, lets act casual
They refuse to be rational the points are pointless
Seems impossible to move minds because they're jointless
Until I realize this contains little mystery
When I look back and compare it to history
Bigotry is constant but the target a changeling
We're hanging, the rope around our neck strangling
A strange thing how there is always a group to hate
A pack of people pestered perpetually been true to date
Honest truth is even I perpetuate the system
So how can I expect others to listen?
It's not that I believe that the people are lesser
I have no say in how individuals derive pleasure
The concept is just so engraved as a social norm
I spread the negative connotation in vocal form
Jokes and scorn arent innocent, the hopeful mourn
It's all of us that cause this to be local born
Is this a side effect of being symbolic creatures?
That we demonstrate our most diabolic features
This hatred is alive of itself an animal
Tricking us into deceiving and being cannibal
Even with these words I know it wont contain the beast
But saying them will keep me from going insane at least
Instead of taming the beast we poke and prod
Then somehow we believe in a broken god
Why do we allow an animal such as this
To claim host to our passions and clutch our bliss
We let the beast consume until it eats the room
We fuel its strength so it'll never meet its doom
It's a wonder to me how few see this
