the man with the everlasting smile
The Man with the Everlasting Smile
With a nod and a grin he’ll lure you in
a chance to win, that’s how it begins
the start of circumstances so unforeseeable
Don’t get it wrong or take too long
if you fall behind, he’ll look and he’ll find
you will discover he’s not entirely agreeable
He only plays with fools to ensure he’ll never loose
you tried to keep your word but he doesn’t know the rules
reposes your television, takes your penny jar and whistles all the while
His face tells a story, written in fists and broken glass
rolex watches, Armani suits, Pockets filled with cash
May I introduce you to The Man with the Everlasting Smile?
For only a score he’ll kick down your door
smash up your home, leave your children in fear
imagine what he’d do for a Grand
If it’s bent or illegal, protection or a borrow
if there’s a profit to be made, he’ll have it sorted by tomorrow
but be warned, if in his pocket you live, his word be your command
if you come undone, you’ll be trapped under his thumb
there’ll be nowhere to hide, nowhere to run
he’ll never let it go, that’s just not his style
you can work it off, even earn a wage
but you’ll forever be a name on a page
a known associate of The Man with the Everlasting Smile
Punctual, presentable, intelligent and understated
with these traits an empire he created
He’ll hold his ground with violence so absolute
knives and bats, blood and broken bones
he laughs at how the broken groan
as he swings another vengeful boot
for his territory is the key to all his power
his gold, his wealth, his ivory tower
he’ll always be the one at the top of the pile
he wants what he’s always wanted
and all he’ll ever want is more,
until it all belongs to The Man with the Everlasting Smile
Numbers are his forte, delegation his art
sympathy not a strong point, only coldness in his heart
pawns pushing on the street all junkie ridden
he cares not for their plight or their well being
when the old bill show he’ll be the first one fleeing
for his presence here is dangerous, he likes to keep it hidden
Police have got his name; they want him more than ever
if they send this villain down will he smile forever?
but it’s all a big charade, there wont be any trial
the witness has been scared off, the jury all been paid
the accused are on the street and all are free to trade
making money for The Man with the Everlasting Smile
He sips at his Brandy, smokes a Cuban cigar
spends twenty grand on his mistresses car
his whole life just a complex planned out act
he lives a life he’s expected to live
for these streets of his, notoriously don’t forgive
a lesson learned quick here, an uncontested fact
Council house on the outside, a palace from within
his glorious crowning jewel, a castle built on sin
The peasants pay their taxes, queuing down the road in single file
surrounded by his friends and family, who all enjoy the show
they reval in his money; they bask in his reflected glow
but each has a weakness only he will know
there’s no escape from The Man with the Everlasting Smile
