Monkey Town Maddness
Life in the Wood, beer blood and mud
and plenty of sweet puka green
the laughing clown chokes Monkey Town
and the dogs get the cats and the cream
There’s wolves in sheep’s clothing
with secrets to hide
there’s stones that keep rolling
and ones stuck on their side
there’s villains with morals
while the righteous have not
the clown and the rat share a piss pot
and everyone’s along for the ride
Days on the hill, no standing still
and nights that are never alone
stay on the move, in your own groove
rolling on by like a stone
Monkey Town its all going down
and the rats have eaten their fill
dangerous times catching rhymes
with nothing but time to kill
There’s angels in denim
with old dirty shoes
you got prophets just Jammin
who do as they choose
there’s cocaine in classrooms
and kids smoking pot
there’s the boy in the corner who never forgot
with only a bad education to loose
The snake and the rat outwit the cat
and occupy the dog with flees
nothing to get except sweet regret
and a licence to do as they please
Just a penniless poet who thought that he knew it
all…. till he was sat flat on his arse
smoking and drinking but never stopped thinking
and realised its all just a farce
You got wolves in sheep’s clothing
with secrets to hide
there’s stones that keep rolling
and ones stuck on their side
there’s no sign of sorrow
and no sweet regrets
as the circus continues the crowd quickly forgets
and everyone’s along for ride
The snake and the rat the dog clown and cat
playing a game on their own
stay on the move in your own groove
rolling on by like a stone
