a brief moment of weakness
I could write something romantic
about teeth and nails
amethyst flesh
aged chardonnay
subtle mewls
and half broken proclamations
cascading ever so recklessly
past his trembling lips
as the serenad I never wanted
maybe add a couple details
like the sweat gliding down his tattoos
to outline my own,
the kindling alchemy
crackling from the little nothings
that ripple through our throats
in hopes that it might feel better
than the misconstrued cigarette kisses
branding our breasts
use words like darling
in place of a more suited bastard
for the genuine atmosphere
of scented lilac candles
long since past the limits of their wick
and not pure enough
for my empty prayers
or his almost senseless passion
perhaps mention love
how it filled our every cavities
with what we thought we needed
when it was the only tangible truth
left for us to grasp blindly for
in the darkness we created
even though I wanted It's stark insanity
so much more so than him
I could write something romantic
if I cared enough to lie
about teeth and nails
amethyst flesh
aged chardonnay
subtle mewls
and half broken proclamations
cascading ever so recklessly
past his trembling lips
as the serenad I never wanted
maybe add a couple details
like the sweat gliding down his tattoos
to outline my own,
