I Miss Her
I came across her picture the other day
Felt like I was hit by a train
Memories bum-rush me and I smile
Wanting to cry but don't
She wouldn't have any of that
I hang on to every story she told
From stealing coal as it fell off the truck
To never having any use for driving a car
Lonely days of waiting as a soldiers wife
She made every word enjoyable to hear
I miss her terribly
Must be shes missing me too <3

Heartfelt - reminded me of my late paternal grandmother who lived through the Depression years in Manchester (England) and was a soldier's wife at home with 4 kids in WWII. Her hands were like the old woman's in the picture when she was living in residential care - lived to 92.

The hands in the pic are my grandmothers and mine...she
was living in The Veterans Home towards the end of her life!
She was 93.
