Under a dark moon night

Listen, and listen closely.
Do you hear?
Do you hear them jeer?
The goblins and ghosts,
As they get oh-so near?

No.
Of course not.

But do you feel it.

It is a sense of dread and fear.
Hair raising, muscle tensing, gut wrenching, blood curdling fear.

It's the look in your eyes,
As you look down the cold steel barrel of a gun,
Up the unknown arm of some crazed psycho,
And into the face of a true contorted demon.

It's watching as your own brother lies in a hospital bed, dying from an allergic reaction to the very medicine the doctor gave him,
And everyone just keeps on walking.

Fear is the feeling you get when you know you are utterly hopeless,
And you know death is standing right there on the edge with you.

Sometimes......a true companion makes you fearless.......

I feel the wind,
Caressing my skin.
The sound of the cars below,
All in such a hurry.
My closest and soon to be last and lasting companion,
Standing beside me.
"So, shall we dance?"
