Orders
Two voices bicker
over a single choice.
Driven to dissent
never to work as a unit.
Military thinking
corrupted in doubt
and settling,
in the back of my head.
And it's been there for too long.
It'd be so easy to make it stop
but I can't bring myself to that.
Isn't
it
always the same?
I'm too kind,
and even that's a stretch.
I never was a nice guy.
Compassion brings me down
but so do you,
in spite of how I feel.
And you can't get enough.
Let it crumble,
and shatter like glass.
over a single choice.
Driven to dissent
never to work as a unit.
Military thinking
corrupted in doubt
and settling,
in the back of my head.
And it's been there for too long.
It'd be so easy to make it stop
but I can't bring myself to that.
Isn't
it
always the same?
I'm too kind,
and even that's a stretch.
I never was a nice guy.
Compassion brings me down
but so do you,
in spite of how I feel.
And you can't get enough.
Let it crumble,
and shatter like glass.
