History of Tea

“Writing is a job, a talent, but it's also the place to go in your head. It is the imaginary friend you drink your tea with in the afternoon.”
― Ann Patchett, Truth and Beauty

They say you can tell a lot about a man, by the way he drinks his tea,

I take my tea black like my heart..
the ritual of tea
for me, goes way back, spent
at the dinning table with Opa and Oma
many a tall tale told
Earl back then, lots of milk
two tea spoons of sugar

Coincidentally I discovered a new tea,
this time a food ritual though Yum Cha..
I salivate just thinking about steamed
dim sum
bbq pork bum
money bags oh yum
This new tea this Chinese Green
for me at first sip I wrinkled my lips
bitter..tart, quite refreshing
Did I tell you I love Chinese Green
you can eat more not long after

So here tonight,
the smell of mint
liquid permeating about
no milk tonight
no sugar in my tea
I am sweet enough
