Backyard Tree

it's quite childish to be honest!

I was sorta going for that. I have 4 children so some of what I write is geared more towards them. This one specifically is about their climbing tree so the youthfulness was kinda built in to the subject for me. However Im not all together satisfied with its flow especially there at the end. I may rework it some. Thank you for your honest opinion. I do appreciate it.

The simplicity of this piece does not make it any less a poem.

There is a Tree in our backyard
Her Leaves are full her Wood is hard
The Kids the Cats they Love to climb
Lay in Her Branches passing the time
Her Roots run deep
Her Branches are strong
Her Life Her Greatness both will be long
I Love the Tree in our backyard
Her Leaves so full Her wood so Hard

would "her branches full, her wood is hard"
work better? though it could create a problem as branches has been used a few times already

would "Her limbs are strong" work better?

i'm sorry but the phrase "her wood is hard" feels slightly sexual (which for me gives it another level.

comma after "The kids,"

commas after "her life, her greatness,"

does Her need to be capitalised? some other capped words that make it reed a little awkwardly. on the whole i enjoy the quietness

I like the suggestion of limbs. That is a good idea. I will edit when I have more time. As for comas, I confess that I am terrible with punctuation and often feel like I am not sure where or when to drop in them in. They all start out punctuated but end up with little to none. Something I need to work on. And her wood is hard did get a giggle from the older kids in the house. I agree it does sound slightly sexual. I may rework the whole thing at some point.
