A Stranger, A Shadow, and a Friend

Dear stranger in the desert,
You who walk on lonely feet
And naked to the sun.
Glossy with tears,
Begging every cloud,
To release a drop of sympathy.

Do I look as lost as you do?
I am just a mirror after all,
We are all we have.
Dear stranger,
Whom I hardly know.

If only we were not so alone.
Then stranger- that I know,
Could we hold each other
In warm comfort
And assurance?

There's a friend along the way,
If only we can make it there,
Pulling along our faithful shadow,
Who drags its feet in the sand.

Lift up you head,
Lift you feet,
Faithful shadow we go on,

Until I find his hand.

The world is once more blessed,
By the water he has given.
Friend how I thank you!
For ending my lonely travels.

No longer am I naked to the world,
For you have given me comfort,
The sun cannot beat me down,
For now I bask in warmth.
The sand can have,
My glossy tears,
For they have been dried out.

Finally I am saved.
