Darkness
Power, lust, a thirst for blood
The darkness cries for more
Violence, carnage, blood and death
But still it’s not enough gore
Chaos, anarchy, senseless death
The darkness thrives on these
Pain and rage, anguish and terror
On these the darkness feeds
Greed, lust and selfish pride
They will not be ignored
And so the world will fall
To a greedy lustful hoard
Drunken lust, and pure brute strength
These make for atrocities
Mayhem, atrocities and mindless acts of rage
To darkness these are simply more possibilities
Murder, rape, and daily beatings
The dark leaves us diseased
Trauma, pain, overpowering fear
The darkness seems so pleased
Afraid of the darkness, and the pain it brings
We tend to run and hide
Afraid to be open with others lest
The darkness lurk inside
Peace and love and selflessness
The light longs for company
But no one comes for fear that light
Give way to tyranny
We all want love and security
But when on the door it knocks
We run and hide and fear the dark
While darkness, the door locks
We fear to be hurt, so we put up walls
We don’t even realize they’re there
If we are to bring down these walls
We must enter darkness’ lair
We must confront the darkness that be
In heart and mind and soul
To rid ourselves of its misery
We must pay a precious toll
The darkness cries for more
Violence, carnage, blood and death
But still it’s not enough gore
Chaos, anarchy, senseless death
The darkness thrives on these
Pain and rage, anguish and terror
On these the darkness feeds
Greed, lust and selfish pride
They will not be ignored
And so the world will fall
To a greedy lustful hoard
