Immortal

Broken.
Hated.
Lusted after.
We were the demons,
we graced the darkened earth.
I saw the clouds above,
lightning stroke down at my feet.
I could not die.
No blade could cut me,
no bullet could puncture my skin,
no poison could pass my lips.
No love could break my heart.
You were the light,
I could not help but cower.
You were different,
a pure soul,
a good heart,
a human with loving eyes.
I knew better than to trust you.
I tried to run,
to hide,
to dissappear.
You were everywhere.
Every eye that caught mine,
every limb that reached out to me,
every lip that touched mine.
It was all you.
You were the one I sought after,
like a lost puppy seeking shelter.
I needed you,
wanted you.
Had to have you.
But you were gone,
I had to leave.
Tears streamed,
sobs escaped.
I coughed up blood.
I am immortal,
yet dying.
Each cutting remark stings my skin,
the bullets of lust strike my heart,
the poison of your kiss burn my lips.
My love for you killed me.
I am but a mortal,
who chose to dream.
