The Nazi Soldier

Beware o man,run, and beware,
For here comes a Nazi soldier!
So people ran helter skelter in the darkest hour of the night,
Frightened out of their wits
They wanted to live alongwith their kids.

But the soldier neither quivered nor did he want to kill,
Of all that he desired, he desired to live.

The alarm cried out and
The heavy marching of the troops rambled
the ground below.
The search lights glared brightly on his face,
He had to cover his face, with his fingers upon
his eyes.

He saw the graceful figure of the woman
Whom he promised his love.
But one wild day bullets and bombs tore his dreams apart.
The lady was kidnapped and taken to the camp,
And he was commanded to join the army if he wanted her to live.

That day he broke his cross and threw his guitar in the river,
He never sang again and painted his whole world black.
Every bullet he fired shattered his heart and
blurred his vision with tears,
He wanted to die as soon as he could
And living was that he feared.

One day while reading the papers,
His heart started trembling with joy.
But as he glanced the whole thing down,
His jaw dropped and his smile disappeared,
The lady whose pic adorned the page
Was charred to death ,and he was left in tears.

Out he went in rage and shot the General through his heart,
Then he started running towards the border, running for his life!

And now, here he is standing
With bullets whizzing past his head,
And CLANK! One struck between his eyes and forehead!
And he smiled for the first time
After ten years a stretch.
And slowly his eyes closed and his head was falling back
And he could see her eyes calling him where she lived.

And here is a story of a soldier, who neither quivered nor did
he want to kill,
Of all that he desired, he desired to live!
