silent dreams

A shimmering diamond stands before me like a mirage in the desert,
Her figure has been silhouetted by the sinking afternoon sun,
Only the shine of her beautiful blonde hair peaks out of the shadow,
And she seems to sing without a sound.
A strange dream indeed.
The light of the day is surreal,
It strikes the eyes making the world sepia,
It causes me to stumble toward the striking vixen,
And through her shaded veil she appears to chuckle momentarily with her hand over her mouth.
I find myself reaching upward from the dirt below,
Reaching towards mischievous blue eyes,
I am unable to speak to the sweet maiden,
My throat feels dry,
I touch my neck in hope but not a single syllable is spoken.
The lovely illusion looks down in worry,
She turns,
And she slips into the sunset,
Revealing nothing to no one
Nought but a smile and fraught hidden by darkness.
