Shards and Ashes

The only remnants of war,
Are the memories and debris.

V1: (intro of strings and piano) (Bridge to the song) (throughout song occasional gunshot and lightning)
The letters you sent to me
Have all been burned.
Burned by war
Burned by hate
Burned by… (Echo)  (Rest of band comes in hard)
I write you this letter in hopes it will find you.
In hopes it will find its way back home.
Where I belong, with you.
And no matter where I look I can’t help but
See your face.

Chorus: This war only brings shards and ashes.
And as the lighting flashes, I see it all.
The shards liter the ground, WITH THE DEAD!
And the ashes fall like snow, WITH THE RAIN!
And as the thunder crashes
For one moment I forget it all.

V2: This is the last letter I send to you,
To tell you that this is the end.
And I’ve joined the piles of dead and snow.
The shards and ashes.
But if this letter doesn’t reach you.
Then it’s been burned
Burned by war
Burned by hate
Burned by the ones who will end this fight.

Chorus: This war only brings shards and ashes.
And as the lighting flashes, I see it all.
The shards liter the ground, WITH THE DEAD!
And the ashes fall like snow, WITH THE RAIN!
And as the thunder crashes
For one moment I forget it all.

V3: If you get this letter, please
Grant me one more wish. (No music)
Stop all the gunshots,
Stop all the hate,
Stop all the lightning,
Stop all the war,
Stop.  Stop. STOP ME,
FROM ENDING ANOTHER LIFE!!!!!!(Music comes back harder.  Guitar solo)

Chorus: This war only brings shards and ashes.
And as the lighting flashes, I see it all.
The shards liter the ground, WITH THE DEAD!
And the ashes fall like snow, WITH THE RAIN!
And as the thunder crashes
For one moment I forget it all. (Back to strings and piano)

Outro: The letters you sent to me
Have all been burned.
Burned by war.
Burned by hate.
Burned by the ones who will end this fight.
Burned by...me.
