Death by Cool
Smoking is cool.
Smoking will always be cool. That’s what the fake-documentaries-involving-actors-playing-students-who-confront-the-big tobacco-companies-with graphic-evidence-of-the-supposed-“Truth”-about-smoking never get. Senators don’t get it. Parents’ groups don’t get it. Hell, even the medical community doesn’t get it.
Smoking is cool…
And being cool is everything and nothing and everything when you’re crawling at dawn. And walking tall all day. And limping and pimping with a cane, hitting the nightclubs.

sappy silliness
that splash of freckles on your tan chest
is like, totally completely the best.
short curly hair and a roguish grin
right above that perfect chin
the chicken pox scar between your eyes
the slim toned look of your graceful thighs
and the piercings and depilation
my god you are my fascination
but nothing leaves me more impressed
than that splash of freckles on your tan chest...
of course i can't forget your ass
that always makes me lose all class
and your neck, long and slim
i like to kiss it on a whim
your waist and belly, oh so...
is like, totally completely the best.

the smile behind your eyes
twisted vapors gliding over my eyes
distortions in the spectrum
faces, voices, clouds,
slide and dance across my view
turn and look at you
smile behind your eyes
eyes behind your smile
mental fingers grasping at the meaning
behind the smile behind your eyes
all the faces curled up and fuzzy
one blurs into two rolls into another
all but yours...
rising cheekbones
striking green eyes
surrounded by long ebony lashes
crimson lips
flaring hair
refusing to stay pulled back
from your totally sinfully perfect face
...

the nicest thing you ever did for me was leave
one thing that i never thought i'd believe
the nicest thing you ever did for me was leave
so thanks for giving up and running away
cuz i would've kept trying to make you stay
your son's doing fine, not that you've ever asked
he misses you but i'm sure that won't last
my friends have kept me from wallowing in grief
and finally that pain has turned to relief
so have fun living your slacker life so free
maybe one day you can afford to hook up tv
i don't wish you harm but i don't wish you well
just wish you'd vanish into your selfish hell
...
