KITTEN
We cracked with killers,
starred in broken mirrors,
straw popped the Evian. Tears
Of strangers shared like wine.
Forgotten how and forgotten where
the misplaced this and that.
The kitten at my feet;
shitting at my feet.
The kitten was called Satan,
would shit in the middle of our bed,
Shared with the tears of strangers.
The blind closed the blinds.
The kitten was confusion,
a road to where now cat.
Now here was nowhere to.
Now here was know where to.
As evil heaped on good,
funny...
starred in broken mirrors,
straw popped the Evian. Tears
Of strangers shared like wine.
Forgotten how and forgotten where

Fish
Confusion opaques the crystal clear
Of mountain streams till they flow near.
Ice borne memory of ten thousand drops
Forgotten between warm valley rocks.
Smooth pebbles bed, new rivers stream
Eddied ripple swirls and stops…
While I wish
And wile
And fish away.
Of mountain streams till they flow near.
Ice borne memory of ten thousand drops
Forgotten between warm valley rocks.
Smooth pebbles bed, new rivers stream
Eddied ripple swirls and stops…
While I wish
And wile
And fish away.

STONE
You seeks the saintly One who loves you,
Walking with a stone in your shoe.
A gown of silver shadows
On a foot cut and bruised.
A stone can talk so persuasively,
Whispering: is it worth the walk?
There’s only your end at the end,
Friend, sit and we can talk.
Here beside the night fire
Or by the desert water.
There’s light in my eyes,
Whispered the diamond in your shoe.
Onward she stumbled
Upwards - she wondered:
For this stone’s but a piquancy,
That whispered St.One was you.
Walking with a stone in your shoe.
A gown of silver shadows
On a foot cut and bruised.
A stone can talk so persuasively,
Whispering: is it worth the walk?
There’s only your end at the end,
Friend, sit and we can talk.
Here beside the night fire
Or by the desert water.
There’s light in my eyes,
Whispered the diamond in your shoe.
Onward she stumbled
Upwards - she wondered:
For this stone’s but a piquancy,

HOUR
Your chicken’s freer than this orphan boy
Farmed for cash, hands red with palm
Singing psalms, singing psalms
His hour is coming; he will be raised up high.
Your flints freer than this slight northern girl
An earth tied cash crop sent to the city
Singing hymns, cruel hims,
Set her on a rock, upon high.
Grown man, a-dirt from the mine,
Nothing is yours but the dust in your chest
Tied to your debts and imminent death.
When will you hear that the hour is near?
Rain soaked Old, your daughter and man both died lean
From a modern...

VISHNU
I am my father that died in the year of my birth:
The warrior tears,
The world destroyer, Vishnu,
The robber’s open home.
I am aloneness short of air
The desperate dark of blood rushed eyes
Before the forgotten way.
I am become winter, become frozen.
I am silvered weeds crisp on battlefields;
The gilded grasses beneath your boots.
And the dirty broke nails that will build again
As soon as Hay Lane sun.
The warrior tears,
The world destroyer, Vishnu,
The robber’s open home.
I am aloneness short of air
The desperate dark of blood rushed eyes
Before the forgotten way.
I am become winter, become frozen.
I am silvered weeds crisp on battlefields;
The gilded grasses beneath your boots.
And the dirty broke nails that will build again
As soon as Hay Lane sun.

DAWN
A camera: a conceit to capture light.
The half light, cow bell, truck horn,
Crow call, dog fight, dark light
The schizophrenia of the dawn.
A morphine mist of meditation
A medication of patient wait
A weight of mind’s hesitation
As if the inevitable could abate.
The piercing light of creation
A herald who’s time has come.
An alchemy of epiphany from elation,
As the earth bows before the sun.
The half light, cow bell, truck horn,
Crow call, dog fight, dark light
The schizophrenia of the dawn.
A morphine mist of meditation
A medication of patient wait
A weight of mind’s hesitation
As if the inevitable could abate.
The piercing light of creation

An alchemy of epiphany from elation,
As the earth bows before the sun.

RAYS
Ewe, crow, fox, hawk and swallows;
Spit bile, pluck flowers, squeak sorrows.
Rather gather rays from the day's sun dial
And laugh today, tomorrow's smile:
Sun shines, Earth turns, moon follows.
Spit bile, pluck flowers, squeak sorrows.
Rather gather rays from the day's sun dial
And laugh today, tomorrow's smile:
Sun shines, Earth turns, moon follows.

SOMEBODY
If you were still,
Not still but still with me,
Still close to me,
Not cold and still
If you were a body
I could not feel you here
Or hear you here
So far from here
Before you were you
You were somewhere
And afterwards
to.
Somebody
With no body
To doubt you
Are you.
Not still but still with me,
Still close to me,
Not cold and still
If you were a body
I could not feel you here
Or hear you here
So far from here
Before you were you
You were somewhere
And afterwards
to.
Somebody
With no body
To doubt you
Are you.

ROSEBED
If I could have any future I chews these lips
Pavement cracked, cracked glass, soles worn out.
A walk so tall, I saw you everywhere.
Saw me in half. Saw you whole again.
Saw you on a rose bed, six square of garden,
Lain on a starched sheet stretched to the end
Wrestling the anger of your dead mum out of you
Delicate as deep, this pear so cool and sweet.
This dripping juice runs down my arms to the pits.

LAZARUS
The earth fell away
Leaving a wake of hollowness
Heavier than worlds compressed.
My poles reversed, my hope, my Lazarus, my less hope.
Paralysed by an absence of reason to be;
I cannot pray or shave.
Never laughing, never to cry to shake the night.
I sleep. You don’t. Don’t play. Don’t grow old.
Instead, you grow brittle.
Are we reborn?
Shall I look for your light in other's eyes and sunrise,
In candlelight, spinning tops, corner shadows falling?
Bow lips, eyes shut, small feet; red eyes, dry lips. ...
Leaving a wake of hollowness
Heavier than worlds compressed.
My poles reversed, my hope, my Lazarus, my less hope.
Paralysed by an absence of reason to be;
I cannot pray or shave.
Never laughing, never to cry to shake the night.
I sleep. You don’t. Don’t play. Don’t grow old.
Instead, you grow brittle.
Are we reborn?

SALT
Then give your cold feet
To my body heat and give my lips
A parting petal in the snow.
Give way to full weight
As hips lift, stars light in dark pits
And hunger surrenders to, to and fro.
And words I mouthed in water
Beat tattoo upon your body
Petals pressed in linen sheets
Pressed against a mirror.
And pestle born of mortar,
Leaves salt upon the snow.
To my body heat and give my lips
A parting petal in the snow.
Give way to full weight
As hips lift, stars light in dark pits
And hunger surrenders to, to and fro.
And words I mouthed in water
Beat tattoo upon your body
Petals pressed in linen sheets
Pressed against a mirror.
And pestle born of mortar,
Leaves salt upon the snow.

Screech
Crone on Crack Corner
Beneath the New Yorker
Screeching "Please let me die!"
Though she prayed real hard,
Reaching a dropped Lott’ry card;
She was killed by a cab screeching by.

Though she prayed real hard,
Reaching a dropped Lott’ry card;
She was killed by a cab screeching by.
