Linger
Though I can not pin point when I first felt your presence
I know you're there
I can feel you
Eyes shut exhausted from a days duties
The only time you expose yourself
Presence felt so immensely
That I jerk and jolt while asleep
Unable to speak the words
My whole being is mute
I quite wouldn't expect one to understand but.. maybe just .. Maybe one may
Waking to find myself brought to tears
Just give me peace
Yet; Just explain to me
Why you linger
I know you're there
I can feel you

Beginning to Fall
Short and Simple
Not drawn out
Shortness is ideal for simplicity
You
Turn red hues blue
Intellectually are powerful
You
Elevate my mind
At any given hour
I yearn for understanding and knowledge because of you
Eyes remain full of light
Promises remain captivating and true
I've found something so spectacular in you
We're dancing around
A dip of orange from me
To stroke your greys
Boldly not afraid
My white sheet
Has slowly
Began to fall
.....
I won't bother catching it either
Not drawn out

Abstract
Is the grass green because it is
Or because someone taught us that
The sky is blue
But, who says that shade is not another
These labels where do they come from
Does it really make sense to just go along with the flow
When shall we interpret things in our manner
Giving way to our limited imaginations
So they can expand
And elaborate on more than what we merely see
Since there is more to the eye
Than what crosses it momentarily
Let this resonate
It's deeper than what you'll read
Or because someone taught us that
The sky is blue
But, who says that shade is not another

I am more than mine,
Bearing wide hips and thick thighs from my blood line and genes
We're all tighter than the jeans some wear
I rock my natural hair,
And it takes on many forms,
See I am black,
We bare grace from the Mother land
A Queen, tasteful and full of love
But do not get that shit twisted and disrespect me, mine or my culture
My brown skin exudes grace and wisdom

Truths
Your voice holds a different tone when I speak to you
Your heartbeat slightly elevates
You smile bigger
Eyes open a bit wider
You sing
And even off key it's the most beautiful sound to I've heard
You are more gentle to others
Showing them your kind heart and soul
Forgiving
And I know that is not your strong suit
But I acknowledge you
I felt you touch me and with eyes closed the other night
I heard you praying
You give your all to our family
And support the dreams I have
You are an amazing father and guide

I could not imagine a world without you

Roots
Stepping out of the shower
Cascading water dripping from my head
Coiled tightly
It makes me smile
My reflection staring at me reveals
A coily frizzy untamed low luster
Mane
I own it
It's mine
Sometimes it takes me hours to comb through
Detangle
Moisturize and get this thing right
But the work never goes in vain
Everyday I am learning different methods
To appreciate my mane
Jet black in color
Wild as ever
Natural hair
You're one of the best choices I've made

Now let me make this disclaimer before I dive in.. I am in no way forcing religious beliefs, I am simply stating MY feelings on the subject. .
If there was a time and place indeed I'd say we need you now

Classically tailored
Wise in his years
Suited with the right sweetest nothing's to override every fear
Backing with Gods touch and ability to pray for me and with me
How I love him
How I crave to learn to love him in so many different ways so I study .. and will continue to do so

Depth
Physically my mind aches
My heart and my soul
From this turmoil of give leaving me empty
Isolation sinking in
Sun giving way to darkness too soon
Too soon
Where am I
Amongst a porcelain tub
Sinking in my subtle conscious
Fingers sinking in my wetter being
Just needing to hold me in too many places at once
I cradle and rock head down wanting to submerge in this small tantric sea
See birthdays don't even bring the same joy to me
So I sit here and sip on my day ..
Prisoner of my own mind with keys I hold but
