I don't understand
You tell me I don't understand
You're right I don't
I don't understand how
What's right for you
Is so wrong for me
I don't understand why I can't
Just let you go
I don't understand why
You are still under my skin
I don't understand
Why we can't fix this
Why won't you listen
Let me speak my piece
You just shut me down
Shut me out and
kicked me out
I spent my days
Finding the time
And the ways to make
You smile that smile at me
Now your lips just say "go away"

I dont care....but I do.
I know I shouldn't care
But I still have to wonder...
Are you sleeping tonight?
Will the nightmares come?
Unrelenting, unwanted
without me there to defend you
Do you look as peaceful alone
as you did in my arms?
Do you wake and linger in bed
savoring the memories of us?
Or do you rise to shower off the
Past?
I know you don't care
But I can't sleep
I see you in my mind
eyes closed,eyes open
You're still there
A ghost of my past
Shadow of my future
And the bane of my
Existence today.
But I still have to wonder...

I'm sorry
For all the times you said I would leave,
I never went anywhere.
For all the times you shut me out
I knocked down that wall
When you were upset, because of me or not,
I made it my mission to fix it
I guess I should have known
When you said you didn't have the time
To care
You never bothered to ask why
You just told me to go
You didn't care where
I would ask if you'd like to know
But the answer is painfully clear
For all your words and your demands
For all the accusations
And the days of silence
I never heard you say ...
I never went anywhere.
For all the times you shut me out
I knocked down that wall

Of playing with my emotions..
one I will never win

I'd like to know
What it is that I did
but you won't tell me
So now I have to guess
You tell me to leave you alone
That gets easier by the minute
You want me to grow up
I'm not the one
Pitching a fit about
God knows what
You think I need you
but I don't
So screw you and your
Self righteous behavior
You think I'm nothing but a
Emotionless bitch
Looking out for no one but me
who was the one to talk you down
For months
Who was the one to hold you up?

I quit
I give. You win.
You say you want to see me happy
Yet you dangle it
Just out of my reach
You claim to love me
Yet it's conditional
You hold me to higher standards
I'd have to hold sainthood
To even come close
I'm not a stupid person
Despite my desire to hang on
To the glimpses of the you
I only get to see in my sleep.
I can't do this anymore
I refuse to lay down
And be the doormat you need
My emotions are spent
My need to be there for you
Is nonexistent

It is your touch that I desire
It is your fingers trailing up my back
Down my side
And between my thighs
That I have been missing
It is your kisses that start my days
And end my nights
That I have been craving
It is the sight of you
Dripping wet
That I want to indulge in
It is the sleepy smile
I have missed
It is watching you
sip your morning coffee
Wishing it was my lips yours were on
It is the very essence of you
That I want to enjoy
I want to take my time
Find the sweet spots ...

You won't give half a chance
My side of things you dont want to hear
Just once I want you to let me air
My view of what's been done
Patience is not my strong suit

Wait for as long as it takes
Communication is a skill
I have lacked
But for you I will talk
Until my voice I lack
Cuddling was never something
I sought to do

In front of the fire
You in my arms
The drama of the day
Slowly drains away
You are my faith
My reason to stay
On the path
To which we belong
I will be your strength
when you have none
I will be your voice
When you need one
I will be your defender
Against all slights
And I will be your lover
For all our time

Are still trying to heal
You told me
You love me
In the same breath
You told me goodbye
Why do I not get a say?
You say it's all about you,
Yes, I guess it is

The past can never be outrun
Nor entirely left behind
There is always a part
That clings to the present
And clouds the future
No matter where you go
Where you turn
Or how long you hide
It's that shadow
In your eyes
I'm not your past
I'm your present....
Your future if you can
Let go of the rest
The demons that haunt your heart
I'm not her ...
My words won't twist and turn
Your trust to dust
I promise to not let you fall
I won't let go
Even when you sleep
