Rose Garden
I pluck a petal from your rose
Get you excited, do you suppose?
That if I pick another one
We might have some bedroom fun
Pretty petals very dry
Need attention, else they die
Liquid love is what is wanted
Or petals precious life be daunted.
Petals dropping far and wide
Gates open, long hose slides inside
Refreshes, so that seed may grow
And that love may forever flow

Light is Out There Somewhere
The light is out there somewhere."
I keep telling myself that. If nothing else than to convince me it is the truth. Even though, looking around at the hole of darkness I find myself in it is very hard to believe.
Everywhere I turn I am surrounded, smothered and squashed by blackness. It leaves me no room for freedom as its tentacles tighten around my life squeezing out what little air remains, leaving me powerless to nothing more than its mercy.
What screams for help I have let loose have done nothing more but fall on deaf ears. Doctors have come forward with...

Brick is Better
I looked at what I had done as a gaping hole stared back at me. Large, jagged and shameful.
This had been going on too long. I have a temper, I know it. Not against her, I would never lay a hand on her or the kids so when I wanted to release myself walls became my punching bag. There were plenty of reminders of that around the house. This last one just made me see sense.
I grimaced and rubbed my hand as I reached for the phone and some help. As my wife says, “Brick houses are better.”

Blood is dripping
Pain is slipping
Peace is on the way
Arms are bandaged
Emotions damaged
Relief here to stay
Scars appear
Mind of fear
Will I cut some more?
When darkness looms
Mindset glooms
