POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
"The limits of my language mean the limits of my world." (L.Wittgenstein) I try to shift them in writing. Any questions? Just ask.

Wrong language (African affair)
On "I love you" I
replied "Ek hou van jou ook" -
you won't call again

A dog's monument

From a distance
How long does it take hearts
to do just one beat?
How far could thoughts meanwhile flee?
How long does it take to write an e-mail
and how long to get it there
where you want it to be?
How long to gain courage to say
those three magic words
and them, if finally spoken,
to travel across the Milky Way?
So, if distance is what WE make, indeed,
does this to remote lovers mean that,
if using time wisely,
they will - at last- succeed?
to do just one beat?

Song Book
"Voi ch'ascoltate in rime sparse il suono
di quei sospiri ond'io nudriva 'l core..."
Could we - after centuries - read this,
would we remember its author at all,
had we been better off,
if he'd finally got her?

Once
we went to the cinema
holding hands
sitting side by side
they played "Ideas"
at "Plato's".
And
watching shadows passing by
too late
I realized
that you had blinked
just
when another shadow
came along -
the silhouette
of love.

Hi, it's me!
Of course, you don't know me - yet.
That's because we've never met before in your life.
Will you do me a favour? Yes?
Then get your ass out of your ivory tower and find that beautiful woman with her radiant smile for me, fall for her, and - well, you know what to do...
If you'd do that for me, I'd always love you - Dad!

Love isn't prime
No doubt, love is composite -
you can't love on your own.
Two factors are always needed to get it:
two primes, multiplied by each other -
like you and me.
Best, we're not too different -
thus twin primes.
But are there indefinitely many?
Nobody knows yet.
So it is with love,
but hope still grows.
you can't love on your own.
Two factors are always needed to get it:
two primes, multiplied by each other -
like you and me.
Best, we're not too different -
thus twin primes.
But are there indefinitely many?
Nobody knows yet.
So it is with love,
but hope still grows.
