How Stupid
I have blindly followed your lead
I have let you walk all over me
You build me up
Just to tear me down
You don't want me around
Yet you won't let me go
You love to hate me
I hate to love you
But it's all I know
You know no matter what
I will still be around
Despite the abuse
Every time I start to get ahead
You start to disappear
God forbid we be on even ground
How could you ever be morally superior
To me then?
You know just how you treat me
You tell your co workers
Then you laugh
How stupid must I be to...

You Assume
Between you and me
there is no room for mistakes
you have made this a high stakes game
Excuses are hard to come by
you leave me no margin for error
Your moods I have learned to read like a book
my reactions I temper to keep the peace
you can go for days and not speak
me, I find myself at a loss without your voice
you change the rules all the time
I tossed the rule book out the door
when i met you
Just between you and me
somedays I do not understand
What I have done to make you mad
but never underestimate my desire
to...

No Idea
It is my attention you hold
With just a glance of your eyes
A brief hint of a smile
Or one light lingering touch
Down my arm, with a slight squeeze of the wrist
You have no idea how your hands
Across the small of my back
Leaving a tingling trail of anticipation
In their wake.
You have no idea how much I have come
To need your touch
To feel you next to me when we sleep
The way you snuggle up to me just before you fall asleep.
The way reach for my hand all through the night
The smile on your face before we wake
With the morning...

For You
Back and forth we go again
I can feel your disdain from here
The unresolved tension
like razors on my skin
We have come so far
Only to fall back into old habits
For as much as we talk
Nothing is being said
I have let you down again
I have fallen once again
from the lofty heights
Of your expectations
My best is lacking
Second best to an ideal
No one can attain
You push me away physically
Yet keep me hanging on emotionally
You want me to tell you my problems
Yet you say you have no time to...

It's been a minute since I have
Held your hand
The warmth of your hand in mine
Is better than any glove

Again it seems it is all my fault
You twist my words
Into a knot, backwards and upside down
Wrapped around everything
Except what I meant
You refuse to listen
So why should I try
Again we find ourselves
In a fighting stance

The Past
People say I have my hands full
with you
I say I would not have it any other way
your past is never far from the surface
the hurt lingers behind your eyes
the shadows flicker across your face
more than I would like
The ghosts that won't be laid to rest
I am not your past
So when you see me hold out my hand
To you,
When I wrap my arms around you,
When I hold you until you fall asleep
I will always be there
I won't let go

not haunted by the dreams
