POEMS AND SHORT STORIES

i stood on the side of my road in
the dark, paced out to the middle
of the street and paced back as
headlights drew fast
my nails are too long
i want a car to hit me
i want a car to hit me
panted as cars passed
the dark, paced out to the middle
of the street and paced back as
headlights drew fast
my nails are too long
i want a car to hit me
i want a car to hit me
panted as cars passed

I fell in love when her
hesitation herniated through
the silence all around us
she peeled my orange wrong
the next morning and since
then,
I've been long gone
I could've written pirouettes
inside the checkerboard of freckles
weaving up and down her
body
I tried to find her rhyme scheme,
but the letters were a mess
off key and her bravado of
replacement left me begging to
confess
You see her happy, you see that dress and this is what it looks like when you're not there
she peeled my orange wrong...

When we first met
you looked at me like
the Fourth of July
like I was your badass biker bitch
here to save you
or forsake
you
I was bombs bursting in air
the fingers through your hair
but I can’t go an hour without smoking
and my skin’s not as perfect
as you thought it was
I proved to be 17 years of
crime scenes
more than you’d bargained for.
you looked at me like
the Fourth of July
like I was your badass biker bitch
here to save you
or forsake
you
I was bombs bursting in air
the fingers through your hair
but I can’t go an hour without smoking
and my skin’s not as perfect
as you thought it was
I proved to be 17 years of
crime scenes
more than you’d bargained for.
