2Face
How do I know which face is my own?
The mask has lived here equally long.
The mask and face, they've separate views,
They've opposing goals, differing values.
When the mask is worn for too long,
Does it evolve into part of the face;
Impossible to separate?
I'm ready to take off my mask...
Is it too late?
The mask has lived here equally long.
The mask and face, they've separate views,
They've opposing goals, differing values.
When the mask is worn for too long,
Does it evolve into part of the face;
Impossible to separate?
I'm ready to take off my mask...
Is it too late?

The Puppet Master
He started out the clown,
Lulling in circus-goers;
Feeding red elephants buzzwords like peanuts.
They eat, they eat, they eat;
Addicted to the energy, they come back for more.
The clown is smart as he expands to puppeteer.
The circus fans are tantalized, hypnotized,
"Elepheep" if you will.
Stand up and lie, he does no wrong;
Change policy, no matter.
He passes out more peanuts.
The more they eat, their bodies stiffen;
Flesh drying out like wood.
More puppets than people, the strings easily attach.
The set is...

Heavenly(?)
Could it be our destiny...
To come together as one?
One in being,
One in mind,
One in soul,
One in seeing?
One in flesh,
One in heart,
One in pride,
One in freeing?
Could it be the love we seek
Must be unified?
In sex,
In soul,
In all the roles
That we play in this life?
To grasp a glimpse
Of the Heaven we hope
Exists for some who seek?
Heaven is here for us to find...
Any other of this kind?
To come together as one?
One in being,
One in mind,
One in soul,
One in seeing?
One in flesh,
One in heart,
One in pride,

Could it be the love we seek

Me, Liar (After All) or Life is Irony You Fool... You Shouldn't Be Surprised!
And the lightbulb turned on,
I'm thirty-eight.
For the first time in all my life,
I've seen this truth in me...
I'd thought I was a "good" one,
Always following the "rules".
Being the one, the ones I love
Need for me to be.
Playing the part to feed their hearts,
They would have loved my feast.
I could've been wholly true to me,
Staying "Daddy's Little Girl",
Could have been the me I needed to be,
You might have loved me still.
What if I'd stayed true for me?
Instead, there's all these lies,
Proving me a liar. ...

Addicted to Guilt
I am only a mask;
You are more than just a face.
Hide behind me, I will save you;
Protect you from your fate...
Of being true to who you are,
Of risking
They might
Accept you.
You are more than just a face.
Hide behind me, I will save you;
Protect you from your fate...
Of being true to who you are,
Of risking
They might
Accept you.

My Why
All things I do not need call my name and draw me near.
Everything I do not need is everything I want.
Romance is never in the shelter.
My lyrics do not sing to sustenance tune.
Magic is not in the water, but in the alcohol.
Excitement is the forbidden lover.
Contentment is the cigarette after.
Running makes me feel alive,
Beauty is magnetic.
I dance around responsibility,
I question my own dignity.
Survival does not interest me;
I, I live for poetry.
Everything I do not need is everything I want.
Romance is never in the shelter.
My lyrics do not sing to sustenance tune.
Magic is not in the water, but in the alcohol.
Excitement is the forbidden lover.
Contentment is the cigarette after.

I question my own dignity.
Survival does not interest me;

Scars
The blessing of my facial scars,
Declaring my imperfections.
Facade's over before it begins,
So we can get on to the good stuff-
The intimacy of flawed humanity...
At least that's what I tell myself.
Declaring my imperfections.
Facade's over before it begins,
So we can get on to the good stuff-
The intimacy of flawed humanity...
At least that's what I tell myself.

Rock-a-bye Baby
Rock-a-bye baby
Sleep full of moans,
Rock-a-bye baby
Poor broken bones.
Rock-a-bye baby
Mommy loves you so,
Rock-a-bye baby,
Can't protect you though.
Rock-a-bye baby
Neighbor hears you cry,
Rock-a-bye baby
Don't even ask why
Rock-a-bye baby
Your life has been saved,
While so many more
End up in their grave.
That is my story,
How can it be, if
I can't remember,
Was it really me?
Sleep full of moans,
Rock-a-bye baby
Poor broken bones.
Rock-a-bye baby
Mommy loves you so,
Rock-a-bye baby,
Can't protect you though.
Rock-a-bye baby

Rock-a-bye baby

Rock-a-bye baby

End up in their grave.

How can it be, if

My glasses
Why is my own little world so great?
Everything's all about me, you see.
If all is perception, shouldn't we do
Whatever is takes to improve our view?
Everything's all about me, you see.
If all is perception, shouldn't we do
Whatever is takes to improve our view?

The Shadows
Stranded,
Away from my lover;
Bound to my best friend.
Forever and eternity
Always secure in love;
Never satisfied.
Counting my blessings,
There are so many, but
My body never sings
The song it has been taught.
The lyrics ever fading,
Leaving shadows to haunt...
And haunt...
And haunt...
Away from my lover;
Bound to my best friend.
Forever and eternity
Always secure in love;
Never satisfied.
Counting my blessings,
There are so many, but
My body never sings
The song it has been taught.
The lyrics ever fading,
Leaving shadows to haunt...
And haunt...
And haunt...

Unbroken
The people most interesting to me,
Are broken in so many pieces, so
Should my goal as "Mommy" be
To raise children who will bore me?

Should my goal as "Mommy" be
To raise children who will bore me?

A Tribute to you, Poet
So many thoughts in my mind,
Lacking the words to convey,
The yearnings of my innermost,
Soul songs you write for me.
It seems you were made to be
The voice I do not own and while,
I know your poems are written for you,
That's how it has to be,
Sometimes I take the liberty,
Pretending your soul knows me.
Lacking the words to convey,
The yearnings of my innermost,
Soul songs you write for me.
It seems you were made to be
The voice I do not own and while,
I know your poems are written for you,
That's how it has to be,
Sometimes I take the liberty,
Pretending your soul knows me.
