Me, Liar (After All) or Life is Irony You Fool... You Shouldn't Be Surprised!

And the lightbulb turned on,
I'm thirty-eight.
For the first time in all my life,
I've seen this truth in me...
I'd thought I was a "good" one,
Always following the "rules".
Being the one, the ones I love
Need for me to be.
Playing the part to feed their hearts,
They would have loved my feast.
I could've been wholly true to me,
Staying "Daddy's Little Girl",
Could have been the me I needed to be,
You might have loved me still.
What if I'd stayed true for me?
Instead, there's all these lies,
Proving me a liar.
Turns out my life's a sham;
I'm just a Barbie Doll.
Some call it midlife crisis;
I call it ego antithesis.
