POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I've been writing since I was eight years old, and ten years later it's a passion that's never left. Often angsty.
Nap Time
With ease I slip into your solid arms;
Molded, shaped to fit my awkward silhouette.
Our arms and legs interweave through the sheets
Like a ship of perfect puzzle pieces floating in
A sea of a warm perfume all your own-
I dive into a scent I wish I could bottle up
Your essence to keep all for myself on those
Difficult nights we’re forced to be alone.
But for now just let me rest in your eyes,
A gaze neither awkward nor overwhelming,
But just enough to send the hooves of my heart
Stamping out of control and it’s all I can do
To maintain the...

Radiation
Sunlight on my skin
Will always burn and
Thick summer air suffocates me
With grave memories
Of the months I was a hollow shell,
Rattling around inside myself.
No foundation; no line to reel me back in.
And whenever I come across
Skin ink-stained and scarred
Twisting, turning and sharp
Like how yours coiled around me-
Larger, so much larger -
Stealing whatever purity was left
Replaced with the poison
Of a life moving much too fast.
I came to learn that
Taking burning water from
A man in a cramped room with...

Foreign
I wish I knew you even
Half as well as you know me.
Someone who says so little;
Your mouth holds tight to an infinite mind
That entices me, a chaos similar to my own,
But carefully reserved to emphasize
Your quiet perfection.
Every time I feel I’ve accomplished
Some significant translation of your soul,
You open the lips I find so much solace in
And rattle the ground beneath my feet.
The honesty with which you spill your
Words into my clumsy hands is
Unsettling at best, but you keep me
Struggling on my toes just long enough to...
