A song we sang so long ago
One which has forever remained a favourite
I sing it for you one last time
While reliving the moment in my head.
I say goodbye my friend til we meet again
To sing that song from long ago
Which from now til then will be
Our song that we sang so long ago.

A poison so different and vast
It courses through one's veins
Through the blood stream
Through the senses
It's effects not always visible
To some non-existant
But often the end result
Death.
Beware the poison
Which allures and seduces
Its potent effects
Everlasting.
It not only cripples the affected
But all those around it
Many times it appears to be a drawn out affair
Others like a battle won here
But others still
Like the hand of a clock steady and true
The poison wins the war
And loved ones remain behind to fall...

The blood is pounding in my ears
My heart is thumping against my chest
My mouth is as dry as dust
My voice like sandpaper
I wipe my hands against my pants
Take a deep breath and count to ten
I open my eyes...
And the world is right again
