Your past is just that...
It could have been because of the way you smiled
or smirked
depending on the conversation
your general lack of feeling
how you didn't listen when I had something to say
the way you smell
maybe even your touch
In any case our relationship's has seen it's last days
The crossroads has been reached
I've decided ...
I can do bad by myself
You're the past
I'm sure we'll meet again
but only by chance
I did enjoy seeing you but
You pretend as if nothings happen

A king has pasted...did you notice
On April 4th, 1968 ... A King was called home
Forty-five years later, the day went without much notice
You drive down streets named in his honor
You attend schools and play in parks that bear his name
His birthday is a national holiday... of sorts
Yet few still speak his name
We should all be ashamed
From his words came hope and while he wasn't a perfect man
He gave his life for an idea...would you have done the same

It's impractical and unrealistic
I can't possibly tell you I love you each day
It's impractical and unrealistic to even think that way
Pay attention to the things I do, listen to what I say
Your friends have little insight on what a relationship means
Had they a clue ... they wouldn't be at home alone talking about me and you

As a man and a father
I'm here to enlighten
I'm not always right but then again neither are you
Consider these points I'm about to make
I'm doing it purely for your sake
If the man you choose can't follow these rules

A letter to my Father
I will not insult you by asking why/what made you decided to leave
As a man, YOU decided that was YOUR best option
I understand that relationships can be complicated
however most times we just over complicate things
In spite of you I've learned:
How to tie a tie
Always wear laced shoes with a suit
Keep my shoes polished
A crisp white shirt is the foundation to any wardrobe
To walk on the curb of the side of the street when walking with a woman
To never strike a woman...
As a man, YOU decided that was YOUR best option

The principle that hard work is intrinsically virtuous or worthy of reward.
The office politics are taking a toll on my mental well being
I'm finding it hard to stay focused
The things you say and do are often dated
Quite frankly it's making me feel jaded
Between the lame and lazy
The just fucked up and or crazy
I run from the job each day ... thinking
What a waste of a perfectly good day
Yet, when you task me...you expect positive action
Yes... I can make shit...

Give God a Rest...
Prosperity(noun):
The state of being prosperous
Advance gain in anything good or desirable
Successful progress in any business or enterprise
Attainment of the object desired
To whom it may concern:
As the title states, Give God a rest.
Would you please stop asking God to turn your cable back on.
Pay your own light bill and you should HAVE money for rent.
He's not going to make your teacher GIVE you a passing grade; study!
Stop stealing, lying and cheating; you wonder why your luck...

The next time I see you
Remember my face
I'm the same person who's here day after day
It's still beyond me why you won't give me the time of day
As you continue to complain how relationships never go your way

You know, the one you can't seem to find

You lay awake at night with batteries full blast

What's my neighbor name
It occurred to me the other day that I don't know my neighbor's names
On either side or across the street
Why is it that we never speak
Can't be because we don't have time; am I just that guarded, you know ... just protecting mine
Are the walls I've put up just that thick
Or is this my way of being slick
I'm better than them so I'll let them be
They're not my equals ... they can't fuck with me
Or is it deeper than one might think ...do we all think our shit don't stink
Facebook, twitter or skype or whatever we do...

Remember what is felt like to:
Skip rocks across a pond
Turn on the radio or TV and listen or watch something together
Build a fort or tree house
Spin a top or play jacks
Play a Board games for the fun of it
Play red light,green light
RIDE a bike ... not to catch air but to FEEL it on your face
Have a water balloon fight
Buy candy that wasn't a dollar
(penny/five cent candy for those of you that don't know)
Watch cartoons on a Saturday morning ... BEFORE you went OUTSIDE to play
Go to the...

Nigger or Moon Cricket...which do you perfer
I was reminded the other day that most people are what they eat
So it shouldn't surprise me when they write, text or speak
In particular; of things they know nothing about
Hence the term moon cricket being thrown about
I'm too tried to sit at lunch counters and/or turn the other cheek
Me doing something grimy to you comes as easy as say... sleep
So instead I'll try to enlighten... that's the least I can do
I'd like you to walk in my footsteps...try on a pair of my shoes
...

I often wonder...
I often wonder ....
Had I remembered that a lie is just too hard to remember
Had I not put the first drink to my lips
Had I finished school
Had I not had that first baby so young
Had I remembered that sex isn't love
Had I learned to control my demons
Had I kept my promise and loved her till the oceans cover every
mountain high
Had I kept in touch with friends made over the years
Had I remembered that work is a means to an end; nothing more
Had I not bared my soul would she have stayed with...
