Powerhouses of Bourbon Street
Beneath the neon lights of Bourbon's street,
Where history and magic still compete,
There was a time of power and grace,
A bygone era that we still can trace.
It was a time when women took the stage,
With fire in their eyes and hearts ablaze,
Survivors and warriors, they overcame,
The obstacles that would leave most in shame.
At Big Daddy's they danced with such might,
Their movements pure poetry, a beautiful sight,
Each step a testament to their strength,
Their resilience, their power, at arm's length.
And though...

Golden Memories of Bourbon Street and Big Daddy's: Celebrating Empowerment and Entertainment
I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been a part of the golden era of Bourbon Street, where the music flowed like honey and the scent of Lucky dogs filled the air. Every night was a new adventure, and I had the pleasure of meeting people from all around the world, each with their own unique story to tell.
Whether I was chatting with the famous chicken man or watching talented dancers perform on the stage, there was always something special happening. And the chance to dance alongside world-famous entertainers like Sandra Sexton and GiO was nothing short of exhilarating. The...

Unleashing the Magic on Bourbon Street
Dancing on stage in front of a crowded room,
The cheers so loud the stage vibrates with its own energy,
The air is electric, the air filled with smoke,
And the smell of lucky dogs & perfume uniquely Bourbon Street.
From the swing to the stage to the back-stage,
An endless routine that continuously dances in my mind,
Looking at my memories through a pane of frozen glass,
My frozen memories slowly brought back to life by my magic.
The stage is a place of liberation,
Where inhibitions are shed and fears are conquered,
A place...

The Red Tie that Binds
In New Orleans, where voodoo reigns
And magic flows through streets and lanes
A city steeped in mystery and lore
That wraps around your heart and more
The drums they beat, the candles light
As fate is sealed with blood at night
A spell is cast, a potion brewed
The magic of the city imbued
And in this land of spirits old
A red rope binds us, strong and bold
Connecting souls through space and time
Uniting hearts with love divine
It's woven into every soul
A spell that never will grow old
For in this place where spirits roam ...

The Rubber Band Wedgie: A Badge of Honor at Big Daddy's
In the world of Big Daddy's,
Where the dance never died,
There was a uniform required,
To work there, you couldn't hide.
It was called the rubber band wedgie,
A piece of cloth so tight,
It felt like a rubber band,
Going up your cheeks, what a fright!
But those who dared to wear it,
Knew it was worth the pain,
For it was a badge of honor,
That set them all apart, in the adult candy land.
The dancers strutted proudly,
In their rubber band attire,
And the people couldn't help but stare,
At the Big Daddy's...

Shaking the Stage: A Stripper's Journey to Self-Discovery and Empowerment
Prior to my interview with Dynasty, I recognized the importance of capturing the stories of my sisters who had danced at Big Daddy's in their own words. I provided them with a list of questions to answer about their time at the club, believing that their personal accounts would provide valuable insights into the exotic dance industry on Bourbon Street. By giving them the opportunity to share their experiences, I hoped to shed light on the realities of our profession and the unique challenges that we faced. It was essential to me that their voices are heard, and their stories were told with...

New Orleans My Lagniappe
New Orleans, my beloved city,
Your soulful charm and vibrant energy,
Forever woven into my heart and soul,
A bond so strong, I'll never let go.
When Katrina ravaged through our streets,
My world shattered into a million broken pieces,
But amidst the chaos and destruction,
I found the strength to rebuild and heal my soul's affliction.
With each keystroke and every word I write,
I breathe new life into our spirit, so bright,
Your colors, your sounds, your people so true,
All come alive in my art, as I pay homage to you.
In my dreams, I...

Big Daddy's
In the heart of New Orleans,
On Bourbon Street so bright,
Stood a bar named Big Daddy's,
A beacon in the night.
But now she's gone, her spirit lives,
Within the city's soul,
And in my dreams, I see her still,
Her strength and beauty whole.
For Big Daddy's was more than just,
A place to drink and dance,
She was a sanctuary,
For women to take a chance.
To be themselves, to find their voice,
To stand up and be heard,
And though the bar may be no more,
Her legacy lives on.
For in the dreams that I create,

Behind the Curtain: A Dancer's Journey on Bourbon Street
My journey began long ago, growing up in the 70s with a single mom who was very religious. By the age of 9, I was already a latchkey kid who took myself to and from school. I never really fit in with groups or gangs and have always been a bit of a loner with only a few close friends.
As a teenager, things took a dark turn when the Sunday school teacher at my mom's church molested me. I knew I couldn't let that happen again, so I made the difficult decision to leave home at just 14 to start my own life. With a fake ID, I ended up in New Orleans, where I discovered Big Daddy's.
