Dolphins
our magic carpet skiing over the bay in twilight
sun sliding away
beneath charcoal clouds
iridescent pearl
slipping through gray water
languid, sleek
curling and unfurling
mother and calf-child

A Flat of Pansies
pastel rose, blue, white crepe
dancers fluttering
lion faces under bonnets, muttering
red, yellow balloon blue
children laughing in the park

No Evil
This evil spell holds us here in chains
Molded in concrete no changes can be made
Change is our enemy and we are triumphant in “no”
Because you are wrong and things will never be better
We are only doomed to an endless cycle of days and nights that are the same, no darkness, no light penetrates
No is not a doorway but a prison and all that matters is the power I have to say so

Spirit Wind
We sailors
seek the wind
wind sees us seeking
Present, elusive
We sailors
wish wind to be
steady, light or strong
Accept it’s gift.
changing
power
wind power
wind faith
Upwind …. Downwind …… we sail
Wind smiles at us and waits
glad to carry us over the waves
glad slow us til we touch our mooring
glad to take us safely home
We sailors seek the wind
and the wind seeks us with love
seek the wind
wind sees us seeking
Present, elusive
We sailors
wish wind to be

Bodacious Oasis
thundering waterfall
from a crack in the canyon wall
silver fish scooped up in a tea cup
sunrise in the bodacious oasis
satisfied in a soul hug
naked wrestling on desert rug
panting fever, thirst reliever
noon in the bodacious oasis
afternoon of labor and rest
hammock swinging, chin on chest
watercolor sky, clouds on high
sunset in the bodacious oasis
wind music singing the trees
sultry dark and mystic breeze
stars bright, flaming light
bodacious oasis at night.

Sea Gypsy
Blue water, sky, dark distant islands
We slice the wavelets with oars
Her hair orange red, deep roots, magenta feathers green and purple
We laugh with nature and all beauty
Slap of water, whisper of wind
Purple gold her shirt, sparkling silver tiny jewels in her nose
We glide over blue frosting, under wooden bridges, around sea sculpted rocks
Was it wisdom, or curiosity
Her question arrow
Is it all worth it?
My heart’s answer:
I don’t know,
yet.

The Red Chair in the Green Garden
the red chair in the green garden
is a stop sign, a stepping stone,
a resting place.
A flaming counterpoint to green chaos,
a perch, an altar, a pulpit
the red chair in the green garden
heartbeat, a red eye, a master and
the green garden is a flock of sheep
a resting place
a bus and the green passengers
loll and spill over but arrive at their destination safely
the red chair in the green garden
a servant, a bowl of unwashed beans
raw and woody; unprepared, unconsumed
a resting place
breath, hunger, longing...

Brooklyn Snow
Snow falling over Brooklyn
mother of pearl sky
Backyard junk covered with snow
How painful yet necessary life can be.
Pearl sky, big soft flakes
lacy tree
your peace belies
turmoil of human fortune.

Oak and Willow
The oak tree and the willow stood fields apart
Oak Tree, power of sun, willow, power of shadow Oak proud and mighty bearer of a storm of bitter acorns each fall, shelter to all creatures, food for many.
The willow, princess tree, beneath her sheltering branches find rest and peace, hidden from the world. The willow, shady mother, giver of wands and baskets
willow beauty, oak, life force
Willow, Oak, where is your disagreement, willow, oak, what is your quarrel, why willow do you weep, why oak does the storm rage around you. Both trees at their core, rooted in...

Liberty
I stood in the harbor that day, as I stand every day.
I watched my beautiful city as I watch every day,
held up by the tender love and regard of it’s people, Held up by their love.
I watched as first one, and then another airplane
Ripped past me in the sky and ran so swiftly to the beautiful eleven of two towers on the skyline.
I saw them bleed fire, for I could not close my eyes,
I saw too, the first gush of souls soaring past me, met by angels-
I heard their singing harmonize with screams and pain of the frightened.
I felt the confusion of their...

Gray May
Oh May with your gray sky
Iris with your purple rain
Maple tree seeds
May, you green monster!
Perennials overgrowing
May you undress me,
Embrace me with your cup and shield
May I am your lady.
To you I pledge my honor,
Rain hard May day.
Wash my sins away.

The Love Map
Love Map
Attention please, you sad and lonelies,
You mean and angries,
You hungry and bitters
You hating so deep and long , fueled by bitterness ,
Pleasuring in revenge,
Laughing and smirking with derision,
Reveling in right, in might, in power sucked from life's nipple
Slaking your thirst in puddles left for dogs in the street.
There is a love feather tickling your nose, there is a charge of love juice washing the bitter taste from your tongue
Releasing the knot of nausea in your gut
There is a hot spring of love in the bitter snow, there is a...
