POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I've been at it for a long time and like e.e. cummings in his painting and poetry I cannot tell a good one from an inadequate one. I'm constantly confused, with makes my clarity so certain. My favorate motto:
The Covenant
We almost all agree
that increasing taxes
for the rich and famous
is a sound, swift idea.
What we resist, resent
is that the idea comes
from the government, from
the hierarchy alone.
We are in an unreasonable
mood: despairing, though
common: which makes
politicians nervous, anxious:
despairing themselves.

Musician's Music
Mysterious, mystical, baffling:
no one can count the notes made
in the shorter, shortest possibility
of time. Like huge, frenetic, frantic,
unleashed, unabated thunder. Rising
notes, bolts everywhere, unencumbered:
bravura for bravura's sake. An unhuge
number acknowledged this. Are they overly-
receptive to this sordid, solid sound?

Poetry Read Out Loud
She read her poem
with
a blatant shuddering.
Her
poem was falsely,
deceptively
conversational. It
caught
us off-guard, surprised
the
hell out of us:
unconversational
poet, poetry that moved the
universe.

The Register
Caged, with no
place to go.
We saw each other
and it registered.
Your eyes,
your eyes
brought all that to
me: it almost lovingly
hurt to see!

Bars
You see me
I
see you: I'm
anesthetized
by
you but can still get
through,
because you have
broken
the bars of my heart.

Secretly
Life is a
secret
entrusted to
me
to give away.
It
can't be locked
out
up. Accept the
trouble
faithfully. Take
life
for what it
is:
don't vegetate, negotiate.

Wondering, Wandering
Where did you
go when I
needed you so?
Look at me now:
with this pain
in my heart.

Take
When I look
into your eyes
there is always
a surprise, some-
thing more to see.
It makes no difference
where you were or where
you would like to be:
please take this little
piece of me.

Honesty
The principle of
something-elseness
replaces humanness.
A glass of water
becomes an internal
bath.
Why not see
everything as
it is? Everything
appears to be some-
thing else when sexual
attraction occurs. "He
is not like that," says
she.
Nothing ever becomes
what it is, like bowing
and not being bowed back.

In-Seeing
Upon meeting you
in-seeing began,
encounter occurred.
You were by yourself,
with the universes
resolutely revolving,
rotating around you, for
you, because of you. I
could see inside you: new,
personal, primeval: deep,
approving.
And finally
I saw me.

Closing Costs
Only you opens
and closes like
the photosynthesis
of a flower, blue,
which all the universe
would imitate, generate
if it could only.
The opening/closing of
you is like a petal, sweet,
near a beach that almost was
our home.
Even there you opened/closed,
only to open, again, for me.

On Being There
1.
You may think that
I put on my
pajamas to go
to the bed. That
would be incorrectly
correct. If you want
love just look at me,
any angle will do.
2.
When you leave
me late at night
there is simply
always fright.
3.
It doesn't really
finally matter if
you are fair, for
one day there will
be no one there.
