POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Condolences
Emptiness of death
can be filled
by living memories.
A friend's dad died today.
can be filled
by living memories.
A friend's dad died today.

Fog
Living in a Fog
Of Apprehension
Depression
Confusion
Loneliness,
and Isolation.
Forecast by
Education,
Industrialism,
Competitiveness,
Hard Working,
and Rules.
All for nothing but Money.
Money: Earn, Spend, Save, Invest.
Or, spend before earn, thanks to the
Freedom provided mortgage, loans, credit cards.
Who am I? An indentured servant.
Where am I? Lost.
I am nothing....
I am nowhere....
I am nobody.... ...

How men think
It's not as baffling as you think.
What's sex but genitals rubbing clink, clink.
Men wear tight frocks
Rubbing against those rocks.
So we're always ready wink, wink!

Solemn Golf
Fourteenth hole.
Paused, distant church bells toll.
Tipped my hat, for the lost soul.
"You really respect life."
"Least I can do, for my wife."
Tribute to men who play golf during their wife's funeral...
This is a competition piece: tell a story, 25 words or less, end with a twist.

The woods
I was a sick child.
Later Mama said I recovered all the money paid to insurance.
I had a fatal bone disease, required ear reconstruction.
He supported us, enjoyed us, cherished us, and loved us.
Busy repairing the cars, the house.
Made time for fishing, hunting, and hiking in the woods.
He was responsible, would do what was needed.
But started stopping by the neighborhood bar more frequently after work.
He would become loud, drunk, annoying, ...

Store Hike
Skipping to the store today
On a bright sunny day in May
Merrily passing kids at play
Bought bread eggs milk and whey
Strolled up to the front to pay
Totaled price was displayed
Now that's quite shocking I'd say
Trudged back home that way
Sky has turned cloudy and grey
Noisy kids are in disarray
How did things get this way
Everything used to be OK
Now all I do is pay
Pay
Pay
Does anyone else feel this way?

The last few years, kids don't come anymore.
Young adults, they're too old.
Had a wonderful time last night
My lady and I walked to the fireworks
2.25 mi there, carrying folding chairs
Best time of my life
Music started at 7, we got there about 9
Fireworks started at 9:15
Mrs wanted a drink of water
Went to first aid, asked for a drink
They wanted to give me Gatorade, I asked for water
They said the stand sells water, but I had no money
Can I just have a glass of water, for the...

Living in 2014 by samantha carver
Living in a bubble the world is now suppressed,
looking through the window this place is too depressed.
An economy that has risen we are all slaves to this,
the government is greedy they really do take the piss.
Fighting for survival a game that's full of deceit.
shocked by the rise in prices I can't look at my receipt.
Living in this crazy world it's full of unwanted danger,
it really comes to something when you no longer trust a stranger .
Technology has taken over our kids are sucked right in,
all in the name of money...

Life's Oxymora
Surviving Here
On Surface Earth
Temporarily Suspended
Between Heaven
And Hell
Living
With Contradiction ...
Lost identity
Opposites attract
Bitter sweet
Original copy
Government work
Ordered chaos
Violent love
Crowded isolation
Practicing medicine
Civil war
Friendly enemies
Corrupt justice
Unbiased opinion
Aimless determination ...

Beginning at the Ending
Albert E. told us that in our world light is too fast
And we remember yesterday but not tomorrow
The apple falls to the ground
Life starts when sperm meets egg, embryo develops,
then comes birth, growth, reproduction, production, old age, death
But I wonder about after death
Can we make the jump
To a world where light is too slow
Where we remember tomorrow but not yesterday
The apple springs to the tree
Life starts with death, grows...

Desert
We drove for miles
In this God forsaken place
Past the lonely trails
Where mankind left no trace
Just a little further down the road
You said I would be surprised to see
What some call the mother load
Wilderness as it was meant to be
We went over that hill
And there Nature was booming
Wondrous colors, beauty, goodwill
For the desert was blooming

That Door
See that door, it's over there
Where it leads, I do not care
I'm comfy here, in my chair
Life's been good, no despair
Friends, we've had some blasts
Together shared life's paths
Problem is few come most go
As we age, don't you know
Memories fade, but I've seen a lot
What's left, not a lot
Why go out I have to ask
The struggle can be such a task
So here I sit, enjoying life
Why change, its my right
Where it leads, I do not care
I'm comfy here, in my chair
Life's been good, no despair
