MISCELLANEOUS POEM

Trust
I am completely, utterly decimated
and it is my own doing.
I put far too much value
in honesty.
Trusting, trusting, trusting
far beyond any fragment of a doubt.
And then, my dreams are shattered
leaving me completely broken
in ways I could never fathom.
I have perished on so many different levels.
Smashed against the ruthlessness
of the word.
Impaled on its sharpest corners.
My marrow completely exposed
The utter shame of my nakedness to it.
To be so blind and foolish
At once.
Have I learned nothing?
and it is my own doing.
