UPBEAT INSPIRATIONAL POEM

SKY
As I lay here
facing up
gazing through
the sky light
I picture myself
with you, lying beside me
even though we are
thousands of miles away from each other
I know that you are looking
at the same sky
the same moon and stars
as they glisten and shine
so beautifully for you
and me
I can almost feel your hand
in mine
as I close my eyes
I can feel myself drifting
with the moon to
where you are

OCTOBER
There is a brook
as gold as the trees
the woods are in slumber
the only sound
the trickling of water
there is not a breath of wind
You can smell
the sweetness of the forest
as the sun shines
through the floral branches
the leaves begin to fall
and soon all will be at rest
The leaves caress
the forest floor
becoming a colorful carpet,
a tapestry
to walk on
as they dance
onto the earth
until there are
no more
as gold as the trees

LOVE POEM

Holding On
you left me your words
which penetrated my heart
and shattered it
into tiny fragments
making my eyes water
from the sting of it.
i understand
these things do happen
that life can be this hard
emotions so overwhelming
there is no place for them.
i try not to think or feel
but, i feel more than ever
and it is unbearably painful
to have loved so hard
and given you everything i am
so fully, without question
to trust,
to love,
to be
all and more.
but, the holding on
is becoming more...

The Crush
you tell me that you love me
and then you slip away
from me.
how can you do that,
and so easily?
did i mean nothing to you at all?
how could you just leave me
that way?
my soul completely open
to all you promised to give,
the sunshine in your smile,
the warmth of your hand in mine,
that glance that leaves me swooning
for more as our lips touch
and then you turn away so slowly
and your hand slips through my fingers
all i am left with is the darkness
of your receding shadow
and then you slip away
from me.
how can you do that,
and so easily?
did i mean nothing to you at all?
how could you just leave me
that way?

out into the open
by hushed silences
earth soft and
pure
white glistening
fallen snow
world glows
in refracting light
mesmerized by
beauty cold
covered in a blanket
of warmth
slowly she lays herself
into the shimmery
cloud
warmth melts
her body into it
lay gazing
everything coated
milky white
single flake comes
floating swirling down
entranced by
its slow journey
falling to where
she lay
lands so gently
carefully

Parting Souls
In one swift motion he comes, wielding his sword. And in that moment he slices with such concise sharp accuracy the pain of it doesn't sink in for several moments. I know it happened though, because as I gaze down at myself, I see I am bleeding profusely. I can only look up in shock and disbelief at the realization that I never saw it coming. My heart now pumping so hard in my throat no words can escape it. And I feel myself drowning. It is a pain I cannot even begin to describe. Windswept Tree
I have been worn down
By the years and tears of rain
That fall from the sky
I have twisted myself in ways
That are only imaginable
To the naked eye
I have been molded and shaped
By what the world has done to me
I am constantly exposed
Yet I still dance in the breeze
I have shed my skin to take in
All that is warm and bright
All I carry has bent me
Still I pull myself to great heights
My form and frame is stronger
Than any heart may know

no communication
there are so many things
i want to say when you
walk in through the door
but it's been so long
since we communicated
my words just crumble to the floor
you'd rather i stay
silent to all you say and do
cause it's easier if i'm quiet
than if i respond to you
you worry about me constantly
no matter what i do
even if i tell you i'm ok
you don't believe it's true
you ask me if i love you
i say yes cause it's true
you ask if it is still the same
and i don't know
how to answer you
so, you always ask me...
i want to say when you

SWANS
The daylight meanders
over the edge becoming night
the swans nestle into
their marshy nests
the wind gently ruffling
their feathers where they glow
in the moonlight
creating night time reflections
so subtle to the eye
as the stars shine on one by one
they nestle their heads
beneath their wings
and fall asleep to the soft
rhythm of the ocean
radiant clouds of white
on the horizon

The Boardwalk
She walks along the beach
To the boardwalk that reaches
Almost to the sea
It covers the marsh
And the warped boards
Move so gracefully
Cutting a path to the
Distant shore.
It is a place for lovers,
For family and friends
Where relationships start,
And some will end
Words are written so thoughtfully
Burned into the grain of wood
Of love shared,
Of loved ones lost
As if to hold onto them forever
If it only could.
The only thing she leaves behind
As she walks along these boards
Are her wet footprints
A few...

Whispers in the Dark
I can feel what is unspoken
When I look into your eyes
How you glance away so quickly
Thinking you can hide the lies
They hang restless in the air
That has come between us
Pushing us farther apart
From what there once was
We are adrift in our circle
Of doubt and compromise
I could tell you what I need to
If you only had the eyes
To see me truly

MERMAID SONG
(inspired by a dear friend)
I decided to prove you wrong...
To hear the mermaid song
You must go to the shore
And search the smooth ocean floor
Left bare by the outgoing tide
To find their beautiful glassy scales
Amongst the carpet of stone.
You can find them glistening in the sun
All smooth and salt bitten.
The mermaids can sense
You searching for their gifts
Strewn along the sandy beach
Some they tossed so purposefully
For you to find, some
are just out of reach.
Others are hidden in
Seaweed and stone
