POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I write about input and output. The world around me is input, how I feel is the output. My writing connects the two.
Dawn
At the dawn of time,
I rose from my bed
and saw a new sun
brighter than the day.
Walking outside through fields,
hazy flowers blurred into horizon
and horizon into sky
and sky into night -
and there I sat
petrified of darkness
during the first night
at the dawn of time.
I rose from my bed
and saw a new sun
brighter than the day.
Walking outside through fields,
hazy flowers blurred into horizon
and horizon into sky
and sky into night -
and there I sat
petrified of darkness
during the first night
at the dawn of time.

Drip
The kind of rain
still dripping from leaves
late the next morning
and into the afternoon
the overhanging porch
dumping runoff water
refreshing shingles and posts
holding up the west side
my grandmothers backyard
dripping rains from
every branch, every needle
evergreens, tall conifers
potted plants straining
for sips of rain
the beautiful flowers
standing with the last water
still dripping from leaves
late the next morning
and into the afternoon
the overhanging porch
dumping runoff water
refreshing shingles and posts
holding up the west side
my grandmothers backyard
dripping rains from
every branch, every needle
evergreens, tall conifers
potted plants straining
for sips of rain
the beautiful flowers
standing with the last water

Cold Morning Air
The cold of morning
makes everything better
calming nerve endings
through trials of weather
sun breaking shade
moon fast fleeting
crisp morning air
dawns final greeting
by high noon
cold has gone
life is warm
the sun is on
the heat sinks in
a burden to bear
I much prefer
cold morning air
makes everything better
calming nerve endings
through trials of weather
sun breaking shade
moon fast fleeting
crisp morning air
dawns final greeting
by high noon
cold has gone
life is warm
the sun is on
the heat sinks in
a burden to bear
I much prefer
cold morning air
