I choose you
They tell me I can't love you
Like I don't have a say
Isn't it my heart
Shouldn't I be the one who decides
whether or not to stay
They tell me I shouldn't love you
Because you're best friend loves me
Why does that decide
whether or not this love should be
They tell me I can't love you
They say I'm a horrible person if I do
Why is it such a terrible crime
to be in love with you
They tell you you shouldn't love me
Will you listen to what they say
Will I be the one you choose

A better place
The world would be a better place
if I wasn't around
I try to bring others up
but all I do is bring them down
My tongue is bitter
Poisoned by pain
I feel like it would be better if I never spoke again
I try to heal the broken hearted
by showing them I care
the fear sets in and suddenly
I can't stand to be there
It's too many deep emotions
Something I can't stand
So when the people I care about need me most
I let go of their hand
I stand back and watch them drown
Because my ability to feel deep...

Wind in the water
As I was walking by a beautiful fountain
A gentle breeze came
The breeze blow through the water
It was a beautiful sight
The water bent and droplets glistened
Looking like stars in the night
It was only a momentary affect
For the breeze left
The water was steady again
Something about that experience
made me look deep within
It reminded me of all of the beautiful love stories I've had in the past that didn't last

The man she loved made stupid mistakes
And was locked away for fifteen years
A few days after his arrest
she fell ill and had pain in her chest
The doctor said she only had a few months left
But she refused to die
before she could look into the eyes

Unconditional love
"Why do you love me?"
He asked with eyes full of tears
"I don't deserve you"
He said as a tear started to run down his face
"I put you through so much shit,
and you still stay. Why?"
I tried to hold back tears
as his words hurt my heart
I gently explained
"There is this beautiful thing
called unconditional love" I said
A smile lit up his face

Bad enough for me to run

or see me in a store
ask me how I'm doing

not not even caring to know what I say
I say "I'm good" or "I'm okay"
Knowing that the truth is something
I can't say
Or could I?
What would happen if I told my deepest feelings
to a stranger passing by?
"Would thay stop to listen?" I wondered
so one day I tried
"How are you?" They asked
"Not good, I wanna die" I replied
They just walked away
without even hesitating ...

When I was little
I always used to dream of being rescued
by a knight upon a steed
Meeting my prince charming
and being swept off of my feet
by his touch that is so gentle
and his words that are so sweet

There is so much beauty in your heart
But all you see is dark
Because of what happened in your past
You tear your yourself apart
You see yourself through shattered glass
Instead of seeing your reflection
your eyes are stuck on the cracks

Scars
I used to be ashamed of my scars
I tried to hide every single one
I didn't want people know
how much damage had been done
I wanted to get them covered
with a needle and ink
Now I'm glad I didn't
I stopped caring what people think
Every scar is precious to me
Because of the memories they hold
Every single one is a story to be told
Even the ones I did to myself
I smile when I see
Because it's reminder I'm able to overcome whatever life throws at me
Never be ashamed of your scars ...
