POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I've been a dark poet since I was a sperm, and I've been writing since I was an egg. Not really but you get the point.
Darkness
Day is gone.
Night is here.
What once was love
Now is fear.
Shadows are here;
They dwell and roam.
Once was safe
Now far from home.
What now is darkness
Once was light.
When gone to bed,
Won’t sleep tonight.
Forever falling,
Not a fear.
The light is gone,
And darkness is here.
Night is here.
What once was love
Now is fear.
Shadows are here;
They dwell and roam.
Once was safe
Now far from home.
What now is darkness
Once was light.
When gone to bed,
Won’t sleep tonight.
Forever falling,
Not a fear.
The light is gone,
And darkness is here.

Unkindness, Murder
Group names for birds
can be beautiful:
A boquet of pheasants.
A charm of Finches.
A skein of Geese.
A company of parrots.
A paddling of ducks.
A murmation of Starlings.
An exaltation of Larks.
But there is also:
A murder of crows.
An unkindness of Ravens.
Ravens are the largest members
of the crow family--
Solitary.
Sharp.
Sinister.
In certain lights,
their jet-black feathers shine
metallic purple,
violet.

Pallor
I'm rarely ill,
Yet people are struck
by the pallor of my skin,
so pale,
yet having spent
days on end
in the sun.
It's as if my blood
has been diverted
to the core of my body,
in a desperate attempt
to melt the ice
that has encompassed
my heart.

Separated
Acorn cap.
Brown,
Bowl-shaped,
Rough, Like sand,
Small, stub-stem protrudes
from the top.
Reminds a girl,
A sad, lost teen,
Of summers At Dad's House,
Hunting for acorns in the woods,
Prying off caps,
Cracking them open,
To ease the already-hard-working squirrels,
Of having to crack the hard shells themselves.
The acorn hunting occured,
Long before the girl and her father
began their constant quarrels,
Became emotionally...

Flower Upon Your Stone
As I think into the past
I see you.
When you look down from the sky
Can you see me too?
As many tears are shed
The memories with you fill my head.
As I say my last goodbye
‘It was too soon’ is all I cry.
As you lay beneath the ground alone
My goodbye is a flower upon your stone.
I see you.
When you look down from the sky
Can you see me too?
As many tears are shed

Looking Inside Myself
Looking inside myself
And finding a stranger,
Someone not only vicious
But downright

How odd, to suddenly
Glimpse a facet of me
I didn't know existed,
I guess it really

All that unusual to surprise
Oneself with an ugly bit
Of ego. But was this

If I Were to Die
If I were to die right now,
Drop straight to the ground,
What would your reaction be?
Would you start to weep,
For the times we never had? Or,
For the place I would soon see?
Would you start to scream,
And shout,
For all the world to hear?
Would you start to run,
Far away from the pain,
Your footfalls loud and clear?
Would you mourn,
Mourn for me,
Day by day by day?
Would you come to my burial,
Give me roses and,
Send me on my way?
Or would you try to follow,
Follow me to the sky,...

Hurt You Again
Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall,
His thundering footsteps pound down the hall.
Incy Wincy Spider climbed up the water spout.
Daddy can’t find you, he’s angry and starts to shout.
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
You start to tremble, he isn’t far.
Old Mother Hubbard went to the cupboard, to fetch her dog a bone.
He’s found you, he’s beating you, he’ll say you’re accident-prone.
Little Bo Peep lost all her sheep.
He’s hitting you harder, you start to weep.
Hickory Dickory Dock, the mouse ran up the clock.
Your anguished cries are...

Three More Bullets
Three more bullets
Left in the gun.
Three more shots,
And then I'm all done.
I hear them shuffling
In the hallway.
Moaning and growling
As they get closer.
Three more bullets
Left in the gun.
Three more shots,
And then I'm all done.
The door is locked
But will not last long.
When they start pounding,
The door will give.
Three more bullets
Left in the gun.
Three more shots,
And then I'm all done.
Heart is pounding,
As they get closer.
I can smell them, ...

Heartbroken
She is alone in her room
Cold and in pain
Palms clutching a blade
Songs getting to her ears
Tears rolling down her chin
As memories come flashing back
A love so sweet and true
She has treasured for so long
It was his birthday then
Hence, she planned to visit him
She brought him an electric guitar
With initials you and me
The night was young and the waft so calm
It brushed her heart and soul
Hence to greet him in surprise,
She is expecting.
She went to his house with the guitar in her hands,
Hoping he will like her gift...

Six in the Morning
Swallows, half covered by blankets
Highlighted by the morning sun
I could I almost hear them singing
As your chest rose and fell
Coffee scent drifted in
The radio alarm disturbed the scene
Of your unusually still form
And soft expression
Loud yawns and superman stretches
Scared the cat, and made us laugh
Now the room feels quiet and empty
An unwelcoming former haven
I think of you on cold mornings
Shivering, and snuggled up to me
We'd be each other's warmth
We were each other's worlds,...

No One
The fan blades
cycle old air through the stale room,
cooling a person
who isn’t there.
A clock
screams out the time in green block letters,
shouting
at no one and nothing.
Two lamps
spread their light over a room,
illuminating objects
that have no one to look at them.
A phone,
Ringing on the bedside table
Asks to be answered
And is greeted with nothing
A car,
Three miles away,
Is wrapped around a telephone pole.
There was someone there this time.
cycle old air through the stale room,
cooling a person
who isn’t there.
A clock
screams out the time in green block letters,
shouting
at no one and nothing.
