Confined
I felt confined
In a mental cage
With dark thoughts
And moments of rage
The silence was deafening
As I laid in my bed
I could not help but wonder
If I was better off dead
How did I get here
What can I do
How do I get back
To the life I once knew
I had deep thoughts to ponder
Emotions to bare
A long road to travel
Until I get there
So I started my journey
One step at a time
I took all my failures
And just left them behind
In a mental cage
With dark thoughts

Eleven years make them
One year can break them
They face the challenge
With strong minds
For they have stood
The test of time
They hold the future
In the palms of thier hands
They will change it
If they can
Some will laugh
Some will cry
They all Walk down the aisle
With a gleam in their eye

The Bomb
All is Quiet
All is Calm
Till the Bomber
Sings its song
whistling Down
Out of sight
The bomb explodes
With a thundering light
All is Quiet
All is calm
The bomb has
Sung its song
Some are saved
Some are not
Hiroshima
Is left to rot
Who has the power
Who is for sure
No one is safe now
There is no cure
All is Calm
Till the Bomber

Anniversary
Love is a song
That I shall sing
Love is a gift
That I shall bring
Love is the tears
That fall from my face
Love is the memories
I can’t erase
We raised a child
Then there were two
When I look in their eyes
I think of you
A few years behind us
Many more ahead
Our marriage is more
Than just sharing a bed
So, I raise my glass
To offer a toast
To the one I care about
The very most
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY
That I shall sing
Love is a gift
That I shall bring
Love is the tears
That fall from my face

Wonderful Thing
Every mistake was a teardrop
That sat on my cheek
Loneliness
Saddened me
Week after week
My heart was frozen
In a silver thaw
I felt every emotion
That was open and raw
Then one day
As I wallowed in grief
Something occurred to me

Why should I sit here
Lamenting my past
I have days ahead of me
This isn't my last
Hope started growing
Like a flower in spring
I danced in my kitchen
I started to sing
Thanking the Lord
For this

The sand is cool
The breeze is light
The sun is fading
As day becomes night
The stars are sprinkled
Across the sky
My mind reflects

Through the wisdom of my years
I learned to laugh between the tears

It is up to you which one you stow
The quality of life that we are living
Is much enhanced by thoughtful giving
Is money and fame the only measure
Does your joy depend upon the weather
Let us sit and have some tea
Let some peace surround you
Let the world go its way

Fog of Perception
Through the fog
I perceive my life
I see beyond the pain and strife
From the things I’ve learned
To the bridges I’ve burned
Reality is in perception
What appears to me
A beautiful tree
Is firewood
For your furnace
The rock of my foundation
Is but a pebble
In your shoe
Where is the truth
Where does it lie
Is it somewhere
In between
My right is wrong
Your wrong is right

The Valley
Into the woods
Where your heart desires
with brooks and streams
The beauty inspires
Critters scamper
On the forest floor
Finding walnuts and chestnuts
By the score
The air is fresh
With a calming breeze
Love is kindled
amongst the trees
Birds are chirping
Natures song
As you find peace
you close your eyes
You enjoy the sounds

I remember the summer
I remember the fall
I loved every season
I just loved it all
Now when I look at you
All I can see
Is trash in the streets
And tents between trees
Where is the city
I knew as a kid
Is it gone forever
Or is it just hid
From the parks
To the playgrounds
To the rivers and lakes

I feel the pain like every grain in the sands of time
Floating in a circular moat of despair
What is this place my heart has found
I can’t seem to get on solid ground
I look for answers as I search my soul

Who visits at night
