POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Just writing about the things I find beautiful and painful.
Remember me - a song of love from afar
If these blustering winds could carry my voice home
I’d sing to the skies that you’re not alone.
Star after star, I’d pluck from dark heavens above
To serenade gentle lullabies of sequestered love.
With a tender embrace and an evanescent gasp
I’d release them to a limitless home and free of my grasp.
On an anguished hope, I dream that they soar,
And land, a falling star, upon your front door.
From miles afar, they would come to proclaim
The pining of a collapsing wanderer who still remembers your name:
I’d return to you though...

You Hold My Hand
You hold my hand as I fall,
As I crumble and
Pick myself apart to the point
I believe I am nothing.
You hold my hand as I tremble,
As I can not get up off the floor
And my eyes are swollen shut
From downpours of uncontrollable tears.
You hold my hand to help me back up,
And rebuild me piece by piece.
With each kiss on my cheek,
I learn to love myself the way you love me.
You hold my hand and never let go.
For that, I can never thank you enough.
As I crumble and
Pick myself apart to the point
I believe I am nothing.
You hold my hand as I tremble,
As I can not get up off the floor
And my eyes are swollen shut
From downpours of uncontrollable tears.
You hold my hand to help me back up,
And rebuild me piece by piece.
With each kiss on my cheek,
I learn to love myself the way you love me.
You hold my hand and never let go.
For that, I can never thank you enough.

Stay
Stay
In response to Wait by Galway Kinnell
Stay.
Ignore your surroundings if you must,
But trust the ground beneath your feet.
Is this not the home that sculpted you?
You will find beauty here,
In the buildings and people
And every crevice of yourself.
Barren trees in January will become luring
And that ragged winter jacket will take you
To wonderful places of this grey town
You never thought could exist.
Lust for freedom is an empty pursuit
When one is not familiar with
The roots of their being.

A Conflicted Mind
Darkened mind,
A catacomb of empty graves.
In shadows confined,
I, the compliant slave.
Unbound and blind,
Tossed in waterless waves.
What good is there to find,
In hollow, inverted caves?
A catacomb of empty graves.
In shadows confined,
I, the compliant slave.
Unbound and blind,
Tossed in waterless waves.
What good is there to find,
In hollow, inverted caves?

Petals
Eyes threaded gold,
Fair as the moon.
Swoon flower, swoon.
No longer Pale pink,
Thorny at noon.
Soon flower, soon.
The mind, a hidden drifter
Let it bloom,
Flower, hoist your roots.
Walk in faith,
Run in lust.
It all ends in dust.
Fair as the moon.
Swoon flower, swoon.
No longer Pale pink,
Thorny at noon.
Soon flower, soon.
The mind, a hidden drifter
Let it bloom,
Flower, hoist your roots.
Walk in faith,
Run in lust.
It all ends in dust.

Flower
I am a flower
Blooming under your
Silk fingertips
Yet you ruin me,
tear me apart:
Love me,
Love me not.
I do not dare
To harm you
As I already know
The answer that you
So fatally seek.
Blooming under your
Silk fingertips
Yet you ruin me,
tear me apart:
Love me,
Love me not.
I do not dare
To harm you
As I already know
The answer that you
So fatally seek.

Depression
Heavy heavy heavy
My breath
My body
My eyes
Just stop!
It is after all
Black and white.
Wake up sunshine,
Show those pearly whites.
Put duct tape over those
Cracks and fractures.
Dry your swampy eyes
Deserts are sweeter.
Gather kindling for your dark heart
and light it ablaze.
It is after all
Black and white.
But you must say is
All I see is pink.
My breath
My body
My eyes
Just stop!
It is after all
Black and white.
Wake up sunshine,
Show those pearly whites.
Put duct tape over those
Cracks and fractures.
Dry your swampy eyes
Deserts are sweeter.
Gather kindling for your dark heart
and light it ablaze.

Black and white.
But you must say is
All I see is pink.

Myself
Myself;
A small anxious shadow
In search of a perfect place.
I slipped asleep.
Endless walls, Black road
Walking through a maze.
Under a sheet, eyes flying,
I stopped toward a perfect dawn.
Myself;
Perfect.
A small anxious shadow
In search of a perfect place.
I slipped asleep.
Endless walls, Black road
Walking through a maze.
Under a sheet, eyes flying,
I stopped toward a perfect dawn.
Myself;
Perfect.

Home
A glossy park road
Illuminated by streetlamps.
Red and yellow leaves fall
And drown in puddles below.
An empty park bench
Damp with rain.
A single soul with an orange umbrella
Is a statue in the darkness.
Stone cold observer
But eyes are closed.
Red, wind stung cheeks
And blue, numb hands.
There is a lovely house waiting
With a warm fire and large bed.
Yet, here under falling rain
And cloaked in frigid air
Stands a man who
Finally feels at ease.
Illuminated by streetlamps.
Red and yellow leaves fall
And drown in puddles below.
An empty park bench
Damp with rain.
A single soul with an orange umbrella
Is a statue in the darkness.
Stone cold observer

Breathe
Blindfold and gag me
So I cannot speak of or see
Of the words, pages, stories
That taught my lifeless mind to breathe.
Drain my wandering thoughts
Like sap from a maple tree
Or blood from the throat of cattle;
Both empty vessels robbed of something sweet.
Heard the youth to what you desire
As they are easily molded like trusting sheep.
You are not a shepherd, but a wolf
Hungry to implement only what you believe.
Do not trust the invisible voice telling how to think.
Let the world toss you about in a sea
Of peaceful waves...
So I cannot speak of or see

Three Shots of Rum and Two Sleeping Pills
Bold statements of love and lust
Roll of your tongue;
Droplets of rain down a window pane.
I open my mouth to answer back,
But damn, does my throat sting.
Fill my clouded mind with dreams of you and I,
Yet when I wake from my yearning state,
You have seemed to escape.
My grey mind turns into white, impenetrable blizzard.
Where the fuck do you go,
For days on end?
All I long for is the taste of your lust
On my cracked, weathered lips.
You are 3 shots of rum
And 2 sleeping pills.
Oh how you leave me numb.
I know...
Roll of your tongue;
Droplets of rain down a window pane.
I open my mouth to answer back,
But damn, does my throat sting.

Simple Steps For Self Destruction
The worst thing you can do to yourself,
Is to tell yourself that you don't matter.
After that, it is a long, winding, downward spiral.
Just look at me.
When I was young I convinced myself that
I was lesser than those around me and that
They, by far, surpassed me in every way.
Now look at me.
I can't love myself because I hate everything
I do to the point where I feel very guilty,
Just for being alive.
Please don't be like me.
Know that you do matter and every feeling
You have is valid and every thought you...
