Such Is Life
The weight lies heavy, upon her weary brow,
Her soiled hands forage & pillage in desperation.
Cold looks, wish nothing but riddance,
Too proud to beg, too desperate not to.
In a world that awaits her,
Looking around for what’s on offer.
With no sign of yesterday, tomorrow’s just a haze,
She tries to reflect, but nothing is shown,
The layers are piled in the summer heat,
The smell un-noticed, she stumbles through her day,
As her blood boils, the afterlife an afterthought,
Seducing & enticing her, but no decision is made,
...

The Power of the Sun
The dark night ends we see the light
The dawn is such a perfect sight
The beauty of the new born day
The warmth within the powerful rays.
Respect its power & all it’s might
Without it face a world in plight
For this celestial body the time is said
4 billion years a planet dead.
Caught off guard don’t let it burn
A useful lesson will be learned
Blistered, sick, racked with pain
It happens time & time again.
Watch a creature find the shade
Not many for the heat are made
Sense prevails from damage caused

Now Mummy’s Gone
I don’t like to see you cry daddy it makes me feel so sad
Since the cancer took my mummy the best friend I ever had,
I remember she would chase me when she caught me she would tickle
She would pull me close and hug me and we both would start to giggle.
I wish that I could hold her I miss her very much
Her big warm friendly smile her warm and tender touch,
She is sitting with the angels now and looking down from high
And when I go to bed at night I look up to the sky.
I see the stars there’s one that twinkles
“THERE’S MUMMY”! Then I cry,

Devil Incarnate
Howling winds blow across the moor
Releasing screams of victims past
In leadened skies a veil of tears
Slain where lay the devils mask.
An incarnation of pure evil
The sacrificed, the weak he preyed
Victims’ bodies broken, torn
Left buried in a shallow grave.
A furnace burns in the devilish pit
Delusions of grandeur, disturbed beyond reach
Lungs are filled with the stench of death
His desire, his passion where hell is unleashed.
Tear stained eyes, blurred with fear

Suffer In Silence
The power of threats the wisdom of words abusers must have it for seldom is heard
The voice of the victim as the damage is done it could be your daughter or maybe your son,
Who are the abusers some never get caught the victims it seems are too frightened to talk
A mother, a father, or a man of the cloth, a so called man who should hold no wrath.
What goes through the mind of the lives they destroy an innocent girl or an innocent boy
Escape is so futile they step into the lair it’s hard to imagine just what happens in there,
With a mind so disturbed needing...

A Verse for All Seasons
Safe & warm like a baby in a blanket
The buds stir slowly ready for their show
Looking towards the warming blue sky
Yawning & stretching as they open their eyes,
The cycle starts & the flowers stand proud
Jostled & pushed getting lost in the crowd
A rainbow of colours fills the gaps in the land
Smiling & swaying the warm breeze gently fans.
Expectant mothers are nervous & tired
Their new-borns just like children play
The lambs are tough & turn their backs to the rain
Showers can fall from March through to May.

Elephant
As a soft wind blows across the plain
The heat haze shows no sign of rain,
In a cloudless sky the sun beats down
The elephant’s trunks brushing the ground.
The slow moving herd keep close & tight
Calves & their mothers so huge & such might,
Such gentle creatures with love & affection
A bull lurks nearby with no change in direction.
Quietly speaking the poachers observe
The game as it wanders across the reserve,
With rifles in hand & conditions just right
The bull his large tusks are close in their sight,

A Leopard Doesn’t Change its Spots (Domestic Violence)
I am sorry I’ve hurt you he tells me again
When we get married I know things will change,
It’s through wedding nerves I’m feeling like this
On her bruised cheek he plants a soft kiss.
Married with kids, 8 years down the line
We sit quiet and nervous the clock says it’s time,
The sound we all hate the key in the door
Home from work in a mood, my face is still sore.
With some light conversation I try to bring cheer
As I put out his dinner doesn’t listen or hear
What’s this shit that you’ve cooked! As the plate hits the wall
Kids...

Starvation Once Again
The scorching heat from the Sudanese sky’s like a thought erased from your mind
Another child dies
Inspired by gross misfortune
The shadow of death follows as the skeletons walk
Death is in charge here.
Generous people of the world donate the TV news records the plight
The countries rulers smile & wait
The governing bodies live off the fat
Armed to the teeth
Rich pickings from the western world.
The starving sit quietly & wait & hope with no energy to swat the flies that annoy
They wait & starve
Staring...

R T A
Lucid, hearing a voice from within
Then distant voices mingle louder
Drowning, floating, sink or swim.
Eyes look back can’t see but hear
Unable to move drowning in my deepest fear.
Then suddenly darkness, then suddenly pain
My chest is heaving
Heart pounding faster than a steam train.
A face appears
Is this heaven? Is she an angel?
My lips are moving but unable to speak.
The angel looks down with a worried smile
Beyond the chaos my mother crying
Then suddenly my father’s voice
Focus on the voices & whispered...

Goodbye Best Friend
It’s been fifteen years now since he was a pup
With loyalty and trust his eyes look up,
The pain and the suffering has become just too much
His tail gently wags with my kind loving touch.
On this his last walk my tears keep on flowing
As he looks at my eyes with a feeling of knowing,
When we get home the kids say goodbye
And my wife pats his head, there’s not a dry eye.
As we drive down the road he’s quiet and still
The vet speaks so calmly the syringe starts to fill,
A small sharp needle relieves all the pain
My best friend’s eyes...

Genocide
Serenity, Tranquil
A warm spring day
The warm soil emits the stench of death
The silent screams from ghosts of the past
Deafening those who too stray close.
A train clatters into the lonely station
The souls disembark
Fate unknown
Like columns of death the soldiers appear
Standing like stone attached to a plinth.
Tired & dishevelled, row after row
Starving & beaten
Huddled for warmth
Grey distant figures herded like cattle
To work or shower!
Moving at gunpoint nothing is said.
Nothing can justify
Cruel,...
