Don’t bite the hand that feeds”
is what my mother said to me
Food gives us life and pleasure
in health and sickness and
freedom and leisure
Fresh produce off our land
Lovingly laboured by our
farmers hand
It isn’t a romantic fantasy
living in the beautiful scenery
The troubles, toils, hardships
and labour
in weather conditions
we wouldn’t favour
It’s what our food has grown upon
with dedication and commitment
far outdone.
So as I recall the respect instilled in me
“Don’t bite the hand that feeds” ...

So how do I choose a deep underground theme?
What does poetry actually mean?
A word game was a good start I suppose
after reading a sultry romantic prose

As I deliberate over what I will write
only my own words I will cite
What interests should I think deeply about?
I consider some and while I pout

The rhyme and rhythm is working for me
Being in the present moment is key
An awakening of sensation and thought
Is what this little experience has brought
