POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."
From the perspective of a former rapist.
I was the headwind, keeping you alone.
I was the knife, exposing the bone.
Crawl on all fours, plant my face against your skin
Pressed my palm to your chest, but I felt nothing.
Work your hands, you conceal your apprehension.
Found your mouth in the dark, no signs of tension.
Read the lines of your face for something in bold
You are a stone, emotionless and cold.
You gave into me, and I crashed into you.
Turn off the light, left lying in the gloom.

Sweet Dreams
you shave your head.
put down the razor and and brush the dead hair away
look into the mirror, and your mind wanders.
imagine yourself wearing a leather jacket.
imagine yourself as the singer of a punk band
imagine yourself as a skinhead.
imagine yourself in a fist-fight.
imagine yourself as a bodybuilder.
you look for signs of muscle in your naked body.
put down the razor and and brush the dead hair away
look into the mirror, and your mind wanders.
imagine yourself wearing a leather jacket.
imagine yourself as the singer of a punk band
imagine yourself as a skinhead.
imagine yourself in a fist-fight.
imagine yourself as a bodybuilder.
you look for signs of muscle in your naked body.
