UPBEAT INSPIRATIONAL POEM

antagony
an ant afloat
aloft a leaf
sucked by the oceanpull
clung to his boat
for sweet relief
his racing heart fear-full
with twirls and turns
and somersaults
the vessel stayed its course
while fixed astern
true to a fault
ant faith was none the worse
his legs held fast
with all their might
although insane the tide
no slight bomb blast
nor day nor night
could pluck him, for the pride
of captain ant
put to the test
would keep him safe and sound
till...

she finds out where
my heart bleeds most
and builds her fires there
she knows what words
with jagged edge
can make the sharpest wedge
between my safe place
and her chasm
and hangs me on the edge

when God ordained him first
taken to make man’s lot no more
so lonely or accursed
when all the world predestined was
without complexity
to circumvent the utterness
of man’s perplexity
but after Eve the whole world from
the woman’s pelvis climbs
with umbilical force across
the corridors of time
and man limps back to seek himself
inside the woman’s heart
unable to be whole again ...
