POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I book, but I am pretty sure everyone gets a first page if they pay for the book. :P
The K Poem
My sister’s name is Karyn
Knitting from a basket
Entered in a country fair
Blue ribbons
Sinkered in her hair.
Kittens are around her
Although grown up in age
Feline fur is stuck to her
And cannot fly away.
Karyn works inside the forest
A knapsack on her face loop
Filled with keepsakes from the woods
Kamacites carried back loop
To her desk within the compound
Her knowledge is commanding
Holding kindred spirit with the
Kingdom of the King,
Atheist open loop
Notwithstanding.

Quadrants
I’m so fucking pissed. Disgusted. Bored. Ambivalent. Sitting at the large, practically empty table. No music, just the hum of the electronics and sunshine. It’s not night time, in fact, it’s only 3:41pm on a Saturday, plenty of time to get something done.
A bus drive by, cars drive by, I sit hunkered in with a furrowed brow. I’m angry at the world for not screaming at the system. I’m angry at myself for not starting a riot. Who’d join me, a 50 year old suburban white woman with a bad sense of style and uncontained grey hair.
There’s no glass of wine. No cigarette. Not...

Rainbow Prophecy 2020
Everyday it’s possible to realize
That the plane of your existence
Can be divided into quadrants.
They speak of wind, earth, fire and water
Did you know there’s more?
It’s there even when your eyes are closed.
You feel it when you stand outside
An open field is best
Or deep inside a neighbor-wood
You’ve walked and walked
Observed the path
Then you stop
You listen
Close your eyes
To the right you hear the birds
To the left, you hear the trees
Ahead you hear the laughter
And behind the roar of the people ...
That the plane of your existence
Can be divided into quadrants.
They speak of wind, earth, fire and water
Did you know there’s more?
It’s there even when your eyes are closed.
You feel it when you stand outside
An open field is best
Or deep inside a neighbor-wood
You’ve walked and walked
Observed the path
Then you stop
You listen
Close your eyes
To the right you hear the birds
To the left, you hear the trees
Ahead you hear the laughter
And behind the roar of the people ...

Return Lucid Memory
In the nape of my neck
You take cover behind my ears
You rest on the tip of my tongue
You hide in the furrow of my brow
Oh sweet age of three
Birthdays and hidden presents
Party games rigged to win
Plastic toys with moving parts
And record disks on 45
Oh sweet age of three
Return Lucid Memory to me
You smell like cotton candy
You taste like lemon tandy
You feel like long grass
Built ‘round me like a fort
My best friend was a wide trunk tree
Mother never looked for me
Find me fleeting glimpse
The long...

All The Eyes in the World
Have you ever sat back
and called something yours?
Have you ever decided
just what you needed?
Could you call it your own?
Could you take yours home?
Mine was outside
out in the sky
right by the horizon
and it was all mine.
I said, This one's For Me
Be it pretty or not
This one's For Me
and it’s all that I got
I named my own sunset,
I named it, For Me.
All the eyes in the world
are welcome to see.
A sunset a sunrise
aren't they the same?
No ,one brings the...

Where Did All the People Go?
Plastic Bags and
Plastic Spoons and
Paper Plates and
Paper Cups
Filling the Pantry
Silenced Life on the Beach
Fallen Trees in the Woods
Tangled Life in the Sea
Drowning Creatures
In Filth and Sludge
Toxic Fumes
Poisonous Fluids
Hazardous Waste
Radioactive Tremors
Generating Wealth
Mangled and Crippled
Stunted and Fearful
Hungry and Lonely
Running from danger
Families Destroyed
Utopia found
When men disappear
And all that remains
Are the ones who complain....

Everyday Objects
Switch on the wall
Smudged with the day
Up when we’re in and
Down when we’re out
Perfectly timed
when we’re away
Blinds half closed at night
Blinds bleached when we’re not home
Each window open just a bit
attempting to achieve a balance
using a roaring breathing house fan
to pull the air like a turbine.
My closest next of kin is a
mailbox filled with trash and bills,
a fridge, a stove, a dirty dishwasher,
a door pulled shut, and locked
with the chain slipped across
It compliments a back door ...

eyes won't
stay open
won't read
a book
but manage
to linger
on computer
and phone
until the
retina burns
corneas sting
lids closed

Consumed Delusion
As if
They’d let me
Drive off, Into the sunset
In the car of my dreams.
I am obsessed with it
Unable to wait for it
Researching it, Touching it
Sitting inside of it, It wasn’t it exactly
But I bought it anyway, I had to have it
Deal with the reality of a lackluster decision later
And now it’s too late, I can’t exchange it
They assured me, It was possible
But now I see, I was duped
Into driving an hour and a half
Sitting in a car I didn’t want
Riding around a blue sky parking lot
Passing by those I didn’t want ...

Drive off, Into the sunset
In the car of my dreams.

Blurred Lines
Cut melon on the table in a plastic bowl.
Centerpiece askew, the keys have been moved.
I know you were here, I see the dirty pot.
The dinner was delicious, the kitchen’s still a mess.
A dishwasher full from the time we spent last week.
No holiday or birthday, not dependent on the weather.
Just some time together trying to make things better.
Time apart is good, much improvement over yelling.
I look forward to your visit, yet delight in your departure.
Finding time to walk, of course forcing time to talk.
Reminisce about the past, then...

Layers
Dusty mantle
Where has the time gone and
why do you pretend to be important
When was your last visitor and
will they notice any difference
from the day you held my books
or the brightest of displays
Does anyone but me
understand your true intention
of holding prized possessions
for all the world to see
Is it really just you and me
What about grandmother’s clock
or the plants from my best friend
or the books that I collected
from random shops and shelves
The oil lamp, the candle lamp
a magnifying glass...
