POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I love a good tale told well.

Full throated melodies
Flitting from one song
And one branch to another

Hopes and Dreams
Lest we forget
Dreams are not Aspirations
The two are not the same
A dream is unconscious material
coming to consciousness
revealing an aspect of the Self.
An aspiration is an
active imagination
attempting to live out our
secret hopes and desires

Global Warming
Beat the heat
Sweltering Suffering Suffocating
Sticky sweet heat sucks the life
right out of you
Save yourself look for water
Find relief and submerge

Soul Mates
Soul Mates
24 years 24/7
Stuck together
like flypaper
Wouldn't have it
any other way
Wouldn't want to
miss a day

The Heart of Mexico
I love to ride the bus in Mexico
Make a reservation jump onboard
buy a snack watch a movie kick back.
Relax!
Villages and farms float by
Miles of smiles and Time to think.
Time to reflect on the past
Visualize the future
taking me to new places
sights and sounds of the Zócalo
Music people and food
Steeped in Tradition
Warm night air caresses
The Soul
We have arrived in the
Heart of Mexico
Make a reservation jump onboard

Ode to Robin Parks
The last time I saw Robin Parks he laid lifeless on a slab after they had senselessly murdered him in the prime of his life.
Why you ask? The reason being, simply because they could.
Organized, intentional, ordained by the State, Unabashed Murder.
He looked peaceful like a
little Black Ghandi
lying there in a white robe
while his family bid him farewell and cried.
He was a poor black kid in a mostly white middle class school who was ridiculed, discriminated against and didn't stand a chance.

Shadow Cats
Shadow Cats
You can’t see them
They see you
Cloak of invisibility
In the forest, the jungle
The streets of New York City
On the train the bus the plane
Right there next to you
in plain sight, unafraid
Accepting Others
You, Me, All of us
in one damned big boat
Sinking!
You can’t see them
They see you
Cloak of invisibility

Ghosts of Alamos
Before we came on the scene
There was a generation of artists who came to Mexico to experience the Culture and capture it in their
Work and their Way of Life
Almost all are gone now
and nowhere to be found, but
their Spirit and their
Works Live On
Tourists now come from everywhere hoping for a glimpse of what the artists saw and captured for posterity
They are the Ghost Tourists
In search of their Souls

Love and Beauty
Even the most beautiful people
don't seem to know how
beautiful they are.
And even the most loved
don't seem to know how much
they are loved.
don't seem to know how
beautiful they are.
And even the most loved
don't seem to know how much
they are loved.

Another Damn Dogma
A Dogma has appeared
It is just what I feared
in over my head again
I must say, God
you don't get it do you
No matter to me
I'll do my thing
wherever I can

The Seventies
The 70s in the Ozarks saw the “Back to the land movement”. Sexual freedom, bluegrass music communes coops and experimental lifestyles
It also brought more chainsaws and Toyota pickups scarring roads up the side of a mountain to build a traditional log cabin. People learned how to grow weed, play the fiddle and banjo whilst picking off ticks on a sweltering hot summer night while tree frogs and whippoorwills sing to the full moon.
We were as they say, “living the dream”.
The Locals, having lived on the land forever thought us long haired...
