Stuck around for weeks
Every night
The same
Accused of witchcraft
Stand trial
Found guilty by my peers
Locked up, for a time
Will you repent?
I'm not guilty
Taken to a field
The funeral pyre is prepared
Tied to the stake
I'm soon alight
My screams echo
Until I'm no more

The dreams
Stuck around for weeks

The same

Thumbs and toes tied
Pushed overboard
Middle of a lake
I feel the cold
Wetness
My clothes soak
My lungs burn
And the last thing I see
Is the person
Judging
Looking overboard
Watching me die
A past life?
Perhaps
Explains why I have a fear
Of drowning and
Deep water
Stuck around for weeks
Every night
The same

You can see the bruises
In my daze
I find them beautiful
If hauntingly so
Romantic
Gifts from my lover
There are others
Invisible
Deeper layers of tissue hurt
So tender to the touch
My psyche is also bruised

It is summer
Life is still new and beautiful
The trees are still green
Baby birds are leaving the nest
Rose buds have fully bloomed
The air is hot and humid
The sky is still breathtaking
Flowers are still fragrant and lovely
Love is maturing
Just look at all this beauty
It is autumn
Life is starting to die
The trees are changing colors
Birds have flown south
Roses have bloomed and withered
The air is cool and crisp
The sky at sunset is filled with even more colors
Relationships are getting hard ...

I’m sitting
Watching the wind
The hurricane came
Everything is gone
Ripped apart
Broken
Shattered window
Bolt of lightning
Crash of thunder
Splintered tree bark
Instant death, but so painful
Cleansing rain
Sun peaks through the clouds
The storm has ended

It is winter-
All of that life has died
Even the still-alive evergreens
All of the birds have flown away
The old flowers are dead;
The seeds are waiting to bloom
The air is fresh and cold
White snow clouds cover the sky
Relationships have ended
Even this darkness is beautiful

It is Spring
New life abounds-
The green trees, baby birds, rose buds
Everything is beautiful, fresh, clean
The air is sweet and cool still
The sky is a bright, clear blue,
The clouds a vibrant white
Flowers of every color bloom
The season of new love begins
Ah, the beauty of it is something to behold.
