POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Photograph (a tanka)
Faded black and white
Frayed and tattered remnants of
Your disarming smile
Now cruelly resurrected
From the bottom of a drawer
Frayed and tattered remnants of
Your disarming smile
Now cruelly resurrected
From the bottom of a drawer

December's Bliss
Warm
winter
sun rises
encircled in
a cold, cobalt sky.
Blinding, brilliant sunbeams
catch and reflect upon the
silvery, still, white splendor of
an immaculate morning snowfall.
Icy breaths linger and mingle as one,
puffs of floating clouds, suspended in air.
Boughs bend beneath beautiful burden
of new-fallen crystals of snow.
Crunch of boots on ice shatter
the splendid silence of
Mother Nature’s gift,
wrapped warmly in
December’s
utter
bliss.

The Memory Tree
Treasured trinkets removed with care
Made by small hands that hold our heart
Each one a prized and priceless jewel
A beloved work of art
Bright ornaments of red and gold
Shiny garland and strings of lights
Memories gently packed away
‘Til next years’ Christmas Eve night
Now in our house forlornly stands
A once so proud majestic fir
Stripped bare of all her finery
Reverently we undress her
Her needles once so soft and supple
Brittle now they prick our fingers
Oh tree of lights, though sadly fading
Your stunning beauty...

Felix (a Senryu)
whispering good-bye
as the needle freed your pain
my tears soaked your fur

In Silence She Suffers
Her
Broken
Body bruised
Shattered and used
A life discarded
Wholly disregarded
Blackened, swollen eyes pleading
Lying motionless and bleeding
“Bitch, look what you made me do”, he screams
Savage, brutal blows crush her dying dreams.

Desire (a Trinet)
His skin
Sun-kissed
Scorching hot, aching to be touched
Shivers as her cool, tempting tongue
Gently grazes
Feather-light
Upon him
Her mouth
Her fingertips
Lazily embark on an erotic journey
Designed to tease, entice and arouse
Primitive needs
Sinful sensations
Sweet agony
His voice
Ragged whispers
Desperately crying out in urgent desire
Pleads to end this exquisite torture
She acquiesces
Delivering utterly
Perfect pleasure
