OBSERVATIONAL POEM

New
Got that brand new car smell
All of the sales tags are still attached
The cork on that Pinot Noir still in place
Kitten eyes still closed
Sealed in bubble wrap
That first cry in the delivery room
Too much saliva in that kiss
That first fizz from the soda can
Choking from the first inhale
Speech slurred from one shot
Red in the bed but will do it again
I am new and nervous.
