POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Driven by a mad Irish muse, I write when she tells me to. I have little control over the content, structure or subject but I do enjoy her poems.
Purse
I saw her across the room,
She saw me and smiled
Meeting like hurtling trains
Breathless I stared into her
And saw forever.
Drifting in free fall, weightless
We danced our lust.
I touched her face, soft
She touched my heart, hard
I need you, I want you
Now, now. I want to taste your
Skin, your mouth, your hidden
Places.
Those fiery words
Meant to be thought
I said it out loud
She looked at me
Startled.
She turned and fled.
Alone. Aghast. I stood
Alone. She looked back
Only once.
I...
She saw me and smiled
Meeting like hurtling trains
Breathless I stared into her
And saw forever.
Drifting in free fall, weightless
We danced our lust.
I touched her face, soft
She touched my heart, hard
I need you, I want you
Now, now. I want to taste your
Skin, your mouth, your hidden

Meant to be thought

Almost Lovers
In a secluded corner, back turned toward the flow
Table bounderied, body cautious, listening intent
As he talks and gestures and talks again,
She leans back, he leans forward, her hands,
Trapped between her knees, as if hiding from
His hands so loquacious, weaving patterns
Dreams, in the air between them, he, the juggler
She the audience, leans forward, encouraging
Not wanting the dream state to end,
Soon, too soon harsh reality intrudes and
Slows his hands, slows her heart
Gravity tugs down on their arc of flight
Through the world...

Reconcilliation
My Father came to me last night.
Held me in his arms comforting
My head against his chest I asked
"Why did you not do this before?"
He gave me no answer but I did
Not need an answer because
Now matters more than then.
Held me in his arms comforting
My head against his chest I asked
"Why did you not do this before?"
He gave me no answer but I did
Not need an answer because
Now matters more than then.

The Mirror
I will take some of those red flowers, and some blue
I come here every year at Halloween the day she died
I make the same wish every year and it will come true
She didn't come the last year tho I am sure she tried
But on Halloween the veil between the dead and us
Is so very thin especially as the moon is rising full
She will come this year, I know she will with no fuss
These flowers are the bait, that extra strong pull
She had long and curly hair, now has she cut it there
I brought a ribbon for her. She did so like contrast ...

Xanadu Revisited
Early morning, dawn's opalescence
Caresses the sky, wafting me up,
Through layers of sleep and drowse,
To that blissful state of dreaming
Wakefulness.
And in that dreaming time
A poem murmured gently,
Softly susurating with
My lovers sleeping breath.
It's cadences gentle,
Soft soothing, easing me to
Wakefulness.
The last line
Was a bit too risqué,
I mulled it over,
Turned it round
Alarm
Clock
Wake up,
Out of bed
Shower,
Drive
Traffic jam slows
Me down, brings me back
To that...
Caresses the sky, wafting me up,
Through layers of sleep and drowse,
To that blissful state of dreaming
Wakefulness.
And in that dreaming time
A poem murmured gently,
Softly susurating with
My lovers sleeping breath.

Dream Sex
I called your name last night.
The light had fled at the click
Of a switch, darkness rushed in
And closed me in its arms and
Whispered words, soft alluring
Words, of love and lust and
Desire. I clenched my fist
Around the hardness you encased.
My hips thrust up to meet the
Warm tight pressure, I felt your
Breath upon my skin. Your hair
Stroked my belly and my thighs
Your warm wet mouth sucked,
Tasted and breathed lust into
The air and into my body.
I heard your soft voice demanding
Sighing, breathing lust. ...

Death Zone
Let me rest here and look back,
Look, see that broken hard path
Where I struggled and stumbled
You held out your hand to steady
Me good friend and companion
And the green bit there. Easy
Easy going. The guiding hand
Of a friend in need in deed
and there, those rough rock
I scraped my knees and blood
Trickled down my shaking tired
Legs. I paused there waiting
For the cool wind that soothed
And caressed my achingly weary
Body until my legs could start
Again. Keeping me on this road
What views! What good memories ...

Stolen Goods
Family party, tension of my own making
I want out. I want away. I keep my
Eyes down. My own council is kept.
Failing at being invisible, dragged
"Come see! Come see!" A noisy nephew
Loud, brash and young, drags me and
His Mother. "Come see me dive! Bomb!"
We stand and fall for his trick, a
Wave of water hits us both and to
Shrieks of laughter we seek refuge
Changing room has towels I remember
Turn and head there. Somehow we
Arrive at the door together. And
Enter the tiny shadowed room.
Shut the door. Alone. We are alone....

Sunset
She stands red tinted in the sunset
Staring down the valley. Vibrant
Colour against the purpling sky.
Blouse billowing in the gentle
Teasing breeze that lifts the hem
Just high enough to glimpse her
Naked breasts. No nipple just the
Curve that leads to heaven. I catch
My breath. I rest a hand on her
Hip. Tentative, questioning hopeful
Touch. Waiting for the reject, soft
Move away. She is not mine but how
I want her. She moves not away but
Closer.. “its cold. Shelter me.” She
Whispers softly. Slipping behind her
Hands...

Listening
Awakened by a sound
Someone in the night
Early morning
In darkness and alone
Tied to wakefulness.
I wait for
The small death of sleep
To return but
I lie listening, wakeful
Cat snoring, foot enclosed
Suddenly again, aware.
I breath softly
Listening, hearing
Neighbour sounds
Laughter, throaty,
She breathes, fast
Faster, faster,
Then ragged edged
Breathes
Short, sharp gasp, then
Soft dreamy laugh
Her tension discharge.
Releases me.
I tumble over and over.
Falling
Sleep...
Someone in the night
Early morning
In darkness and alone
Tied to wakefulness.

The small death of sleep
To return but

Suddenly again, aware.

Remorse
Remorse
Dawn's grey light gently rouses me
Bordering the dark curtains with
Light, memory and reason like
Startled birds return together
And apart. Guilty children
Aware but not acknowledging
Each other. I feel your hands
On my head, I taste you on my
Tongue. You musk perfumes
The bed, my face, the pillow
Scratches on my back
Heel bruises on my kegs
I hear you breathing.
Faster, gasps, wordless
Till "Fuck me now"
I rise up over you
you guide my clock
To your lips.
I hold back
Look in ...

Bordering the dark curtains with
Light, memory and reason like
Startled birds return together
